Hi,
I have several issues with my BB remote App for ipod.

1.: When I connect to the BB server the current song appears, but when I want to pick a new song it wants me to pick from a folder in C:/Documents and Settings or something like that. Since I have my songs on another HD I want to pick from there. Is that not possible? it certainly did recognise my other HD else the first song couldn`t be played back.

2.: The chord sheet on the ipod shows only major chords where there should be minors etc. It only writes stuf like " D | E A | etc, where there should be D-9|Em7b5 A7#5|.
I do understand, that it might be hard to get all of that stuff onto a small display. So either you make smaller letters or at least just put the minor sign (a minus) in, so one can see if its a major or a minor chord). BTW, I have the Jazz symbol font on my computer. Maybe that`s what irritates the ipod App?

3.: Why can`t I just put my finger on a bar on the ipod screen to start from there. i find it rather complicated to quickly pick a certain bar to start/continue the playback from.

4.: Why is there no forward/rewind button? I mean, this is suposed to be aremote control. Every remote I know has forward and rewind buttons.

If you guys could kinda update this, it would be a great help for teaching my students and having a remote at hand to start my BB playbacks for them.

Thanks, Sandra

I forgot the most important issue/bug:
When I hit the play button on the App it loops the 1st 4 bars. I have not set aloop on my computer and if I press Play it doesn`t loop on the computer. So why is it on the App?

Last question first, I noticed on a new install that Loop was the default for my second screen. Was it on yours? I had the same thing happen to me after I had been playing with it for awhile, and I'm reasonably sure I had pressed some other button like section on that second screen, which activated the loop. I guess.

I didn't work with this app in the beta testing, and now I tend to just use it without being careful to document what I did. I'll try to be more methodical, as you have been.

#1. I was able to navigate on the same drive. Didn't try a second drive; will try now.

#2. Will try to verify that, too. I do not use the PG Jazz font.

#3. First thing I did was double-touch on a bar, hoping it would start from there. We probably need a Wishlist forum for the BIAB Remote app.

#4. It's not rewind, but at least there is a Replay icon. This is better than the Tranzport, where I had to discover the undocumented Replay function (Shift+Play).

And one for you: if you use Windows 7, have you caused a white-screen freeze yet?

Since I have my songs on another HD I want to pick from there. Is that not possible? it certainly did recognise my other HD else the first song couldn`t be played back.

BB Remote defaults the folder c:\bb\bb2Go. But you can use any folder, including folders on other drives. For example, if you have all of your songs in f:\Songs, in the FIle-OPen type "F:\Songs" and then press the button to the right, which prepares the list. Yes, this works with drives other than C:, I just verified that. Note that backslash, in your example above you used a forward slash (C:/Documents) . You only need to type that folder name once, as it remembers it, and it also includes subfolders of the parent folder.

2.: The chord sheet on the ipod shows only major chords where there should be minors etc. It only writes stuf like " D | E A | etc, where there should be D-9|Em7b5 A7#5|.

That is strange. I see all chord types including big extensions (on an iPhone). You are using an iPod touch correct, what version. It might be a screen resolution issue, but we should be able to solve that.

3.: Why can`t I just put my finger on a bar on the ipod screen to start from there. i find it rather complicated to quickly pick a certain bar to start/continue the playback from.

Right, we plan to add that

4.: Why is there no forward/rewind button? I mean, this is suposed to be aremote control. Every remote I know has forward and rewind buttons.

There is the conductor, which has forward and rewind On the conductor, press "GO BACK" and "then 4 bars" (if you again want to go back, you just press 4 bars, unless you want to go ahead in which case you press Go-Ahead and 4-bars.

5. Loop 4-bars

I cannot duplicate an issue like that. It is possible to put the conductor in a mode where it loops 4 bars (by pressing "Loop" and then " 4 bars", but you get out of it by pressing "Off". I have never seen it default to that mode. Perhaps you were in loop screen notation mode on your desktop BB?

Also, note that we have delivered version 1.1 to AppStore ( a free update to 1.0), but it is still awaiting approval (should be a few days). That is a free update that adds an "automatic hookup" feature, so you shouldn't have to manually connect/ reconnect or enter a password.

Sandra, I tested #1 and #2.

#1.
I am able to see full chord types on my iPhone4 display if I used one chord per measure. For example, I'm looking at an EbMaj9#11. However, if I try two chords per measure, often the chords are resized, and not always with the same size font. Also, I start to see some truncation:

EbMaj9#11, FMaj9#11 shows as Eb FMaj9#11 Both are in the small font.

A7, F#7b9/A# shows as a big A7 then a small F#7b9 without the slash or the slash root.

Em7, F#m7 shows both chords but the Em7 is medium size and the F#m7 is small size.

I wonder, if the app could support rotating the screen 90 degrees, would the font sizes be able to be uniform with no truncation?

#2
I was also able to go to another drive. It's very well synced from the PC file system, too: I navigated to a drive and folder that had no BIAB songs. Then, on the PC, I dragged a song into that folder. The BIAB Remote app instantly showed that song! Cool.

One thing Peter said that confuses me is the forward versus backward slash. The two are mixed in the data screen. For example, if I enter C:/BB it finds nothing, then it changes itself to C:/BB/ and find folders and songs correctly. Then I select one of the folders, like 101 Riffs - Bluegrass Guitar and it shows this way: C:/bb/\101 Riffs - Bluegrass Guitar.

(Note the forward then backward slash together.)

Should I be using the beta testing forum for this type of observation?

Hi again,
I was able the solve some of the issues, but not all. Generally, I would say the App is either not so intuitive as I expected or I`m too stupid to figure it out (probablly a mix of both :-)) Don`t get me wrong, the idea itself is great, I just think it needs some corrections.

Problems solved:
* Loop: The loop problem is solved. I think the buttons on Apps screen 2 confused me a bit. Thanks for helping me out with that one.

* Opening files: You are right. I was able to open from another directory. I was expecting a browser-like button ther like in my windows browser. It`s not really handy to type in long paths. i wonder what the guys do, that have their song on an external Harddrive, that changes its letter, as soon as there is another device added to the system. They have to type the whole long path every single time. Maybe you can add a"Browse" Button that lets you browse thrugh the PC, dunno if that`s possible though.

* Forward/Rewind buttons: Thanxs to your help, I fugured out how to move forward/rewind. I still consider it rather complicated. So if that touch thing could be applied, that would be a really nice feature, since it`s very intuitive. (Tappeing twice would be perfect, to prevent from accidentally touching the chord, when jsut wanting to scroll down)

Unsloved Issues, New issues:
* App screen not sysncing/refreshing: When I load anew song on my PC without changeing it on the ipod, the Remote App remotes the song, but keeps on showing the Leadsheet of the PREVIOUS song. Shouldn`t it sync automatically?

* Chords still only one letter: The chords still show one letter only per chord as described in my first statement. I use an iPod touch 3G with iOS 4.2

Thanks for your help,
Sandra

I agree, the file system syncs but the song does not. I should have mentioned that, but the context was about the file system navigation.

Without an iPod, I cannot duplicate your chord truncation problem.

RIght, so far we don't send the chords the BB Remote if you load them from the desktop - didnt think that someone was using the Remote if they were loading songs at the desktop. But it is a good idea, and we will add t to the list.

If you have a Gm7 chord for a whole bar, is it only showing G, or does it show Gm7,
Or is it truncating chords only when there are 4 complicated chords in a single bar?

>>> i wonder what the guys do, that have their song on an external Harddrive, that changes its letter, as soon as there is another device added to the system. They have to type the whole long path every single time.

No, because it remembers previous paths used. So if their drive letter keeps changing from e:\myMusic\MySongs\Jazz to f:\myMusic\MySongs\Jazz, then they would have both of those paths in the previously used ones, and could just select them by pressing the "Past" button. If a completely new drive letter showed up (G:), they could choose a past one, and then edit a single letter, not type the whole thing again.

Having a browser based system for folders and files would be a time consuming thing on an iPod Touch, we would need to send the name of every folder on every drive of your system over wifi before the browse started. Preparing that list might take about 30 seconds.

BTW, you can choose something simple as your song folder, like c:\
THen you'll see a navaigtable folder system of all of your BB songs in their separate folders, without a lot of typing.

I'm finding the Past history to be very useful, thanks Peter.

I do make changes in the song and would like a future update to change the song on BIAB Remote. I use the remote app in another room to save me running back to the computer, but sometimes I do go back and would like the app to update.

I always only have one letter, even when I have a single Dm chord (with no tensions, just Dm), it shows up as "D".

I agree, Matt, I also find the path history very useful. And now that I know how it works and that it would take to long to use a browser feature, I can live with it quite well.

Hi Sandra,
Strange issue. We tried it today on a iPod touch, and the chords were OK. So there must be something we're missing. Perhaps someone else can try it on a iPod touch and tell us if the chords are getting cutoff (with BB Remote).

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!
