I refuse to use Sound Click, to they are not an option. Any system with close to non existent support will never see me on it. Their FAQs are terrible and they never answer emails.

Where else cam I put songs not for sale but just so you guys can access them? I no longer have a web page of my own, thus no place to host files. I do have a Dropbox account but don't know how to share that with general public, only with specified users. Same with box.net, when you want to share you have to give the email address of those you want to share with. Google Docs is the same way.

I don't want to set up a store, have 75 people annoying me with emails about how they are going to help me advertise... none of that BS. I just need a place to put 2 songs so I can link you folks to them.

Suggestions?

Do you have any free webspace from your internet provider? That might provide room for a couple of MP3s.

Eddie,

Sound Cloud is good. I don't know about support tho because I've never contacted them.

Bob, thanks; Sound Cloud looks interesting. It has good statements on content requirements being the user's original music, and not permitting uploading of copyrighted material of others.

Eddie, I agree, Sound Click is sometimes not easy to work with.

I actually revived the web space on my ISP to use for this. The 2 songs I posted just now I just tossed onto that space.

And just went to Sound Cloud and that is the winner. Easy to use.

SoundCloud does also have probably the best user interface for others to comment on your songs. It's been my favorite for nearly 2 years. There widgets work well in other websites as well such as Facebook.

I realize you don't want to use box.net, but it seems to fill the bill. I've been using it as a beta tester for Pianoteq; I simply put up the file on box.net, and post the link in the beta testers forum.

Like this:

http://www.box.net/shared/4i686ki5ngvbk79urado

It's not me playing, but a MIDI file I found on the internet I converted to wave/mp3.

I use it because I can limit who sees it - either by posting the link on a forum like this, or e-mailing the link to a friend (even the mp3 files are too large to send by e-mail).

Google docs. Very simple and no hassles. The big difference though is you have to provide the link to your material.

I have a Reverbnation account as well. They spam me every couple days about potential gigs I could be playing at all the way across the country.

Like Scott, I get lots of useless email from Reverbnation. I think their popularity has come and gone: not much user traffic that I can see compared to two years ago.

Reverbnation is a great place if you only want other musicians to like you. You can set your emails to not receive anything .

The snag with Google Docs is having to know who wants to listen in order to mail them a link.

With box.net I could not find ow to put the songs there to stream but not be downloaded. Their online help is worthless, their help desk is snotty and condescending.

Sound Click told they were happy to remove my account and I should not email them any more. Apparently Shiquonda was offended by my choice of verbage. (I am NOT a shrinking violet...)

So Sound Cloud it is. Streaming via a link, no downloading.

The other snag with Google Docs is that it downloads the file to your Google Docs folder. Most of the time I don't want these song files as keepers... I just want to listen to them, or to part of them.
