Songs Open Incorrectly Using the VSC DXI GS patch (maybe others)

FYI: I use VSC DXI GS mode

Note: Requires some patience, but worth the trip to get things right . . .

To demonstrate the problem in Real Band:
1. Go to Preferences\Song Generation and check "Style Can Change Patches". Note: This is a global setting and it affects all songs.
2. Go to Options\Patch Names\Roland GS. With this setting you should see instrument icons for each track of a BIAB song.
3. Now open any song created in BIAB.
4. Look at the instrument icons. Some are not correct (not the same as in BIAB). Confirm by playing the song and comparing it to what you heard in BIAB.
5. Now press the Song Settings button and check "Style can change patches for this song". Note: This is not a global setting, it affects only the current song. This means that it only has affect after a song is opened and regenerated.
7. Regenerate the song using the Generate button or the + button.
8. Look at the instrument icons now. They're correct. Confirm by playing the song and you'll hear what you heard in BIAB. Almost . . .
9. Another glitch: If you have a melody track, the icon is correct (even when the song is first opened), but what plays is wrong and the only way I've found to get it to play the correct instrument is to open the event list and enter a control change right before the first notes begin. I haven't tested the Soloist track yet. It may have the same problem.

Question: How can a song created in BIAB be opened in Real Band play correctly without having to do all these extra steps?

Comment: Seems like some kind of conflict with the Styles global and individual song preferences. Unfortunately, the Song Settings cannot be changed until a song is already opened and generated.

I'm tired (lots of troubleshooting, no music creation time) and hope this makes sense.
