Hi, Doc K and welcome to the forum (I see this is your first post) -

PowerTracks Pro is a digital audio and MIDI sequencer that supports up to 48 tracks. You can mix and match up to 48 MIDI, mono audio, or stereo audio tracks. Each audio track can have up to four effects (DX or VST) assigned, and there are 16 AUX busses for additional effects processing capability. It will read in MIDI files, MP3 files, audio files, etc, or just create your own from scratch. It does most everything a modern digital audio workstation would do. It also supports Realdrums from PGMusic.

RealBand does everything that PowerTracks does, plus adds a lot of built-in Band-In-A-Box processing capability. Band-In-A-Box (BIAB) allows you to create a chord progression, select one of many styles, and create a full band arrangement in a matter of seconds. Much (but not all) of that processing carries forward into RealBand. RealBand also supports PGMusic's RealTracks.

If you just want to do basic audio and MIDI work, then PowerTracks is great. If you need the BIAB features, then you would want RealBand. RealBand has a similar interface to PowerTracks. However, in order to get RealBand, you need to buy BIAB. RealBand is included with your purchase of BIAB and it doesn't make sense to have RealBand without the BIAB extensions (styles, RealTracks, etc), because you would then only be able to do what PowerTracks provides.

I hope that made some sense. Click around the web site and maybe even look at some of the streaming videos to get an idea of the different products.
