Anyone other than me have problems with this command? I set the "end of chorus" command to bar 180, but when selecting the entire track, I can only go from bar 1 to 99, as an example. So I go to the chords window and highlight the later bars to get a track to create beyond bar 99. This works, but it really slows down any productive activity. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks, all!

I may exposing my stupidity, but where is "end of chorus" command? Are you in BiaB or RB?

Select whole Track works here.
Do you have any data on the track between 99 and 180? If not it will not select beyond the data. Use From-Thru to set beginning and end by clicking the double arrows.

Control+A selects the whole track according to the data contained in it, but will not necessarily highlight all the track to the end of the song. One way to overcome this is to REWIND to the start of the song and Press F7 then REwIND to the end of the song and Press F8. Long winded but this procedure has saved me a lot of problems. Unlike PTW, RB opens with no highlighted region.

Bob, in the centre of the window above the Keyboard and to the left of GENERATE is a box which shows the End of Chorus. This together with the "Offset" and "2 Bar Ending" governs the automatic Generation of BIAB Choruses. I personally prefer to highlight the song positions into which I wish to generate.

"end of Chorus" bad choice of words/label for us non jazzers. "end of song" would be more appropriate because RB doesn't do the repeat stuff like BB.
That said the "select whole track' works fine here as well. If there is any data at all on the track it'll highlight the whole thing.
So don't know what's up with that issue.

Just my dime and just how I do it, when I lay the chords out, I add and extra 40 measures to allow for expansion. And when I start approaching that, I add 40 more. Then when I know I am done with chord layout, I go back and delete the excess from the end. THEN generate the song.

What function are you doing where you want to select the whole track? Regenerating it? If so, maybe just add a blank and generate it fresh, because you would then have to "ideas" and you could cut and paste as you like and seam them into one good track. I found RB to be a whole, great new world once a group of people taught me how to use it. One of my songs has a tenor sax solo that ended up being pieces of 4 solos stitched together. Track 12, 13, 14 and 15 are all solos and I took a little of this and a little of that and pasted them on 16. When I had what I wanted I muted the other 4, voila...

Mixed emotions. When a computer can play a sax solo better than I can.... the song sounds better, but I am replacing myself with a computer....

Becareful, don't fall into this trap. I simply avoid any RT Guitar accompanyment or Guitar solos except for my own, even though I noticed the same thing.

I was talking about the button to the left of the "generate" command. It's the bar selection button for "end of chorus" in Realband. I changed it to 180. Then generated an audio track. The track only generated to bar 99 although I had chord notations to bar 180. Then I highlight the track and generate again to fill in bars 100 to 180. Why doesn't RB generate the track from 1 to 180 the first time?

Okay, when you go to chord entry, you enter chords to 180 bars, right? Then you come back to the track screen. Do you already have ANYTHING generated and you added bars to it or is this a brand new song with nothing done yet? I ask this because is your song was 99 and you extended it, you would have to regenerate all and do a whole rewrite. I don't know where you are in the process though. I can say that I was working on one last night and did not like the ABACAB of it (my shorthand for "arrangement") and did a top down redo and then had to regenerate all to get everything to rewrite. That may not be your scenario, but just saying what I needed to do in what sounds like a similar circumstance.

Eddie,

To follow up, yes, this was a new song. When the RealBand screen opens, I think the start of chorus button holds a number, the end of chorus holds a number (34 I think, for 34 bars) and the number of choruses holds a number (3).

I changed the number of choruses to "1", then I input chord symbols to bar "180", and finally I changed the end of chorus button to the number "180". Next I selected "generate track" and chose a Realband audio (not midi) track. The track generated fine, but only to bar 99. Nothing generated beyond bar 99. Then I highlighted bars 100 to 180 and selected "generate track" again for the same track, and the track generated just fine. Why doesn't the track generate from bar 1 to bar 180 the first time. THANKS.

You are either in the wrong program or have things confused. There are no number of choruses etc. in RealBand. That's BIAB.Unless I'm totally blind. There's a begin??? & end Chorus.

Hover over the two numbers next to the Generate button ...
I never called them that, but I guess that's what PGMusic calls them.

Oh I know that Bob. The "end of chorus" is important for the endings to generate right. Not sure why there's a "begin chorus" but there's no "number of choruses". This is purely linear except for the repeat, that BTW makes my computer act up, in the Bar Settings..

Open a stereo track in Audio Edit window, will ya?
I'm only seeing one side of a stereo track in 2011.5 build 4 ... Makes it kind of hard to edit.

You are right. The default "3" is for the start of the chorus. The default "34" is for the end of the chorus. But that doesn't change the problem I have described so eloquently.

So, can anyone let me know why the track will not generate from bars 3 through bars 180? It will only generate from bars 3 to bars 99, which I described in a previous post. Thanks.

OK I got ya.
If you use the "select whole track" command it indeed only goes to bar 99. Not sure why.BUT if you want the RT to be on the whole track DON"T use this command. Just choose the track by clicking on the far left so it turns red. Then rt click and go from there.

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!
