Is there a switch I don't know about or am I just doing it wrong when I select the style but I want all audio tracks, no MIDI tracks, and every time I regenerate I get MIDI tracks.

It depends on the style, some are midi styles, and these are the core of the BiaB/Rb world. RTs are only about three years old now, and growning but there were 1500 midi based styles here. In preferences, and in the style picker you can adjust what it choses. Take a look around in there and experiment.

Had a feeling the answer would be along those lines.

Oh well, I picked one to find a groove, just used the drums, replaced everything else with audio tracks and avoiding "generate all" and it's coming along.

Writing one for an acquaintance who has been through hell and back twice over the last 3 years with medical problems, one career threatening, one LIFE threatening, and to see her perform, with that amazing, room brightening smile of hers, you would never know. Tearful as I work on it. She is amazing.

Eddie,
In RB I totally have done away with the first 8 tracks. The so called BB tracks.Open a NEW file. Then hold control while clicking on the title box of those first 8 BB tracks. One will be red 7 will be yellow. Now click: track/remove tracks. You'll now be left with a blank screen. Go to File/save song as default template. Done. Now each time you open a NEW file you'll have this blank screen. Forget about using styles if you want all RTs & RDs. Styles only are a way to use a predetermined batch of instruments when dealing with all RTs.They do not come into play as far as what is chosen. That's another file that does that. Not so for MIDI. Just add your RTs & RDs one at a time were you want them. Never deal with the generate button at all. WAY easier.

Thanks John. What I need to stop doing is setting up the intro, one verse and one chorus and going to sample it. Then when I finish the song and I regenerate, those first 32 bars are often different.

I have never manually picked a drum pattern out either, always going with what my style selection gave me, so that is more experimenting I get to do. I really don't want to get into the MIDI tracks and will do what you suggested and just set up a template with those 8 tracks gone. Like that idea a lot.

Never use the regenerate button again. If say you want a sax intro on the first 8 bars on track 6 just highlight those bars, right click, select and generate RT. If you don't like it right click and choose, regenerate track (highlighted region) in this way you are only regenerating that one section. It can also be done with the generate button.Same set of commands. Just avoid regenerating all the tracks at once cause you'll loose your song.

It's never really lost. It's in the backup folder if you saved it once previously.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Sivertones,Tried your idea and get nothing here. Does not result in a "blank" screen, still has 48 tracks. Chose items as you stated, but when I hit delete track-nothing changes, when I close the program it asks if i want to save the changes (?) but on re-opening and starting the "saved" file, it still has all 48 tracks. Am I missing something? thanks for any help
ADDED: Although I do not end up with a "blank" screen, the BB files seem to have gone-when i click on one of the BB "selection" boxes (above the tracks) they indicate that the BB tracks cannot be found. From what I can tell, RB must "add" tracks on the end to still give 48 tracks (?) if you delete tracks. The "blank" screen would be ideal for my purposes.
