Alan, I learned from Mark Hanson's "The Art of Solo Fingerpicking", a book and CD package. I still hold it in very high esteem after many years, and highly recommend it. Available on Amazon (at least here in USA) http://www.amazon.com/Art-Solo-Fingerpic...4603&sr=1-4This would get you the basics of this style of playing, and you'd be able to take on some of Chet's work after this one.
