Trax & Mac:

I hear you (sigh), but unfortunately, a patch map for my particular brand of Motif does NOT exist (Motif XS) on PG's website. It has not been deveopled by Yamaha or an inspired, adept, supremely intelligent, independent individual...who happens to have 12.4 Giga-hours of time on their hands to spare for the betterment of mankind!

I contacted Yamaha about this...with no recourse I'm afraid...it's up to us.

I must admit, I have figured out (decoded) the mystery with higher bank patches...(in regards to the Motif that is).

The Motif has a cool function/display called Category Search.

When I'm in the "multi-timbral" mode, I can press this button [CATAGORY SEARCH] and I instanly have a categorized list of the patches. I can scroll down etc, and when I pick the right one, voila, it tells me what bank (USER/PRE) and the patch (A1 thru H16; that's HEX for you digital nerdz...I used to be one).

So any-hoozers, I have a Motif DATA List booklet, and it gives me the LSB and MSB that I need. There is; however, an offset of ONE when it comes to this; PRE ONE is actually LSB 0 (brain mangler I know)...but you get used to it.

In my case, I've chosen the Motif ES Patch Map (which is a CLOSE cousin of the XS) and just winged it from there when I'm working...connect the dots and wham-oh, I'm good.

For anyone just getting their feet wet, the cool thing with "my" set up is, when I tell BB what patch to use (that is, hitting the "+" button on the main screen), my keyboard responds repectively...and I can see it flip-flop through the change instantly (as I change patches in BB's GUI that is).

This is cool (especially when you're trying to FINGER things out) because you can tell instantly whether you're in the right bank or not (that's how I learned)...mystical MIDI Magic there is...LOL...

Just have to "bear down on it"...and figure it out on your individual system.

Manuals are awesome (guys HATE to admit that). To quote a college professor of mine (from years past): "When in doubt, READ the manual"

LOL

Words of truth.

Thanks guys...I hope someone will benefit from this in the future (if they do a seach that is).

I've got another question for you later...in another thread.

Regards,
Eric
