Since you're not worried about miking your instruments, you might consider using a portable vocal booth (aka "microphone reflection screen"). There are a number of different options compared here. If you've got a really limited budget, you could even build your own, like this or this.

I've not tried them myself, but they're highly touted by some folk on the internet, so they must be good.
