Hi Everyone,
I'm noticing some strange keyboard (external) behavior as it pertains to the faders (via the GUI) on the keybard itself.
Allow me to explain by example:
I've created a song in BB and recorded a MIDI part via the THRU input using my Yamaha Motif (no VST/DXI).
THRU is prescribed (in Channel settings) to be channel 5.
BB slaps this data (by default) to the MELODY track (no big).
Melody track is set to channel 4.
An interesting "thing" takes place when I drag/drop the Melody track to my DAW.
When I move any Motif sliders (there's 8 on the face), the Motif's GUI shows that...no matter which Motif channel slider I move...only the channel 5 slider moves in its GUI.
This is while the Motif is in a Multi-timbral mode (SONG mode for ex) with the MIXING window front and center---showing all 16 tracks etc.
Now, at the moment, this is not a hindrance, as I've chosen to stick with the one MIDI part for the song.
However, I can see this being a problem if I wanted to lay down other Motif generated MIDI parts on other channels within my DAW...as no other fader movements on any other channel is being recognized by the Motif.
EEEK!
There is definitely something going on here that I need to hammer out.
In contrast...just to let you know, I have of course recorded numerous tunes with my DAW just using the Motif, and the behavior of the faders/ch is normal; ie, chan 1, fader 1, all werky, werky...thru 16.
Definitely a strange isloation phenomenom to say the least.
Anyone out there experienced this?
This whole "home studio" thing can be a REAL mind bender sometimes.
I don't seem to have too many synapses left as it is...LOL

That's why buy Roland!
JK, Yammies are nice sounding synths, I just don't like their workflow for customizing sounds, their paths to find features is not intuitive to me, and little stuff like what you are describing.
I have a Roland Juno 106 (very old) that will send every slider or knob movement out the MIDI out as sysex data. Very nice when recording a performance. Most Rolands I know of do this, though its rarely discussed in the manuals.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Hi rharv, I hear you. Again, "normally" when striking something up from scratch in my DAW, what I describe is not an issue...all works great. But, strange voodoo happens when I bring in midi files from BB/RB. Guess I'll have to stew on this a bit. Odd.

Hey there rharv,
Motif has a UTILITY button that has a MIDI tab.
There's a few sections:
Channel:
-Basic receive ch (default ch 1); this one can be set to OMNI, but I don't.
-Keybaord transmit ch; off, 1-16
-Device number; all, off, 1-16
Sync: Type of MIDI sync/clock out/seq control
Switch:
-Bank Select
-Clock Out
-Local Control (this has an affect...I think regarding slider behavior...it's realy early yet)
Again, not a huge issue. After all, I can change any part vol/pan with BB's GUI...but the main point was going from BB platform to my DAW of choice (Tracktion).
Just need a little more time to fool around with stuff I guess...no big.
PS. This thread should belong in BB actually, I apologize.
