Peter,
I understand about the use of copyright protected songs, BUT, if you're just posting a BIAB created song, why can't you post it here - as long as you don't include the melody? As I understand copyright law, you can't copyright a chord progression, or a song title. Why can't I post an arrangement I did of a Patsy Cline or a Lorrie Morgan song? No melody - just the chords, the song title, and the BIAB arrangement. It seems to me that would be quite legal, or is Canadian copyright law different?

Cases in point:

"Time After Time" is a jazz standard written by Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne in 1947.

"Time After Time" is also the title of a song written by Cyndi Lauper in 1984.

Two different songs, exact same title. You can't copyright a song title.

G, Em, C, D is also the basis of quite a number of songs, but you can't copyright a chord progression. Or any 12 bar blues.

Or is it just too big a can of worms to open?
