OK folks, I have been playing with Melda Productions MDrummer for a few days now (Thanks Combobob!), and can say it is a must grab for anyone looking for a different type of drum program.

All tho I find the drums too processed to my ear (just like EZD and AD) the program has some great little quirks to it!

The 289mb download includes MDrummer2 Small, the Demo Version, which shows you all the features of the $200 full program, but you can not save or export, and it adds a noise to the signal every now and then.

The MDrummer2 Small is a working, stripped down version that will give you a taste of how the program works. Tho it only includes a sparse amount of like 65 patterns, it is what the program can do with them that is so cool! By using the Shuffle & Humanization controls you can "morph" them into a ton of various feels. Under the "Playback" section there is a slider for Level. The closest I can figure is this tells the program how "Intense" to do the Rhythms, Changes, & Fills.

But don't think I am talking about 65 MIDI patterns and it just switches between them...no, this program changes the Velocity & Pitch, along with varying the pattern by dropping a or adding a note as it plays.

And that is the cool part about it, it almost seems to "create" a drum track AS it plays, changing up the beat AND adding fills at various places, which are also different each time!

This program is way cool in that respect. It also comes with 16 pre configured drum sets, along with a ton of various components. I have not got to that level yet, but I am sure it will be fun!

All I can say is if you have the bandwidth, grab it! And if you have not done so yet, check out the MDrummer Videos for a fast overview (and a good laugh at the computer translator!).

I will be keeping this on my system for a few, it is just too much fun to play with!
