~Hi
playing around with realband today i noticed that if you play the controller with the midi sound of what ever track one is useing ie-the coyote modual on track one it will play what midi instrument you have in that track so why does it only play a piano sound if you have a garritan aria modual midi saxaphone on said track any views or ideas
I always play the right notes but not always in the right order

What happens if you play the wx5 on another midi channel to the garritan? Does the sound change?
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!

This is a case were RB requires you to use ASIO in order to play the DXi/VSTi in real time.

Hi John
i tried bothin mm and asio without any success just a piano sound thanks for your intrest
thanks Rharv when you use the coyote sounds you can play what ever instrument you put in each track so in track 1 if you have a Alto sax it plays ok, i have tried 3 different midi units and they are all the same one other thing that when you record the piano it plays back as the instrument thats in the garritan modual regards Dave

Hi
it looks like you can`t use garritan with Realband to play it in real time, it plays well when you use it to play ready made sequenses, nobody at PG could help me with this problem which i find quite surprising

I wasn't asking about sounds or patches for the track. Can you change the channel the WX5 sends MIDI data on? If so, does changing this change the resulting sound in realtime? I'm wondering if the Garriton product itself assigns the input during realtime play according to MIDI channel, not patch selection from the host..
Also, what happens in stand-alone mode for the Garriton?

Ya know BIAB has a check box to have either the "thru" channel aka the midi input from a midi controller routed to either the DXi/VSTi or to one of the other output drivers. In the RB manual there is no mention of anything to do with playing DXi/VSTi synths in real time using a midi controller. I s anyone playing a DXi/VSTi in RB in Real Time with a controller?

OOps in prefs/6-midi/midithru.
Play with those parameters. Especially the channel & port.Of course enable the thru AND ASIO has to be used or the thru gets routed to the default synth

Hi Rharv
like any midi controller you can change what channel you are useing on the WX5 i have it set to channel 1 which is what track 1 in realband is set to, in the jazz band and bigband modual, this has tracks which you load what ever instrument you want to use ie- trumpet or alto sax and when you play the keyboard with the mouse it plays whay evers instrument is loaded in to the track you have highlighted i hope this is what you meant im sorry if i have not understood what you are sayin
regards Dave

Silvertones; yes realtime VSTi and DXi works in RB.
Dave, I meant try changing the midi channel you are sending on and see if the sound changes. Send the WX5 on channel 2 or 5 or 7, just try another channel as an experiment.
When you use the mouse you are sending 'inside' RB. I'm wondering if the MIDI goes directly into Garritan (it is not letting RB have control in realtime).
If it plays a different sound on a different MIDI channel in realtime then there is a midi/patch map inside the Garritan somewhere you would have to use to control the sound.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!
