John, in truth, I don't think it makes much of a difference.

At one point, everyone was recommending that "background services" priority tweak, and even then, I tried it both ways and saw no difference. The lone voice against doing it was Noel Borthwick, Chief Technology Officer for Cakewalk (who makes SONAR, for anyone else reading). If I had to pick one person to believe, it would be him, and SONAR is my most intensive audio app. Noel said that for SONAR at the time, which was version 7.x, we should not do the tweak. Even he didn't seem too emphatic about it.

I now have SONAR X1C Expanded, and it's been a few years since anyone has mentioned the tweak at Cakewalk, one way or the other. Bottom line, I still don't think it matters. But, you asked, and that's the reason.
