It is very common when a band holds for a measure, that one member, usually the drummer will come in earlier on 4 or the & of 3, and lead everybody back to 1 where the full band starts again. Currently there is no way to do this in BIAB, as I was told from PGMusic.
Current the best I can do is this...

So the whole band holds on C, and on the & of 3, everyone rests, but the drummer starts playing. The only downside of this is that the remaining instruments actually rest rather than continue to ring.
I wish there was a simple notation that would allow other instruments to come back in from the hold... like with the letter x or something.
| C... ,^xd | drums come back on & of 3, others still under effect of previous hold.

Hi strum,
You could achieve what you want by using the "freeze" feature. First play the song as you have it written:
| C... ,^C.d |
Then freeze the drums track. Then change the above to:
| C... |
Now when the song plays all the instruments will hold until the end of the bar, except the drums will be be frozen in their previous state (starting on & of 3).

That's a great solution. I was unaware you could freeze tracks. Freezing is going to come in handy as a lot of times I find sometimes I love the choices BIAB makes, and then with the next play generation... it's not as good.

Hmm,
Having trouble with the Freezing...
When you select the track to freeze from the drop down, does the track become instantly frozen upon that selection? Or do you have to select the track to freeze and then do a play generate, and it then becomes frozen.
I've tried both ways and I can't seem to get the drum track to stay frozen...??

Yes, I played it and figured the track was generated, then clicked the freeze button and choose drums, and it said frozen. I then erased the chord symbol, clicked play to regenerate, and the drums regenerated as well... weird??

Try freezing the Drums track by right-clicking on "Drums" at the top of the screen, then clicking on "Freeze Drum track".
"Drums" should then become "Drums*"
Then when you make changes to the chord chart the Drums shouldn't be effected.

If that don't work for you render the drum part and bring it into Real Band after you load the song with the hold chord .
