[About Volume Slider]
I imported a midi file to the RB 2011. When I started playback, it does not show volume changes at all. I checked with Piano Roll that velocities change in the midi file. However, as I already mentioned, volume slider does not change at all during playback.

Piano Roll Window Overview (PGMusic help)

The Piano Roll window enables precise graphic editing of note timing and duration. You can also graphically edit Note Velocity, Controllers, Program Changes, Channel Aftertouch, or Pitch Bend.

Ofcourse RB is meant to be used with the RealTracks, but very same volume slider changes shall be shown to the audio tracks too.

[About Realband Effects]
What additional effects do you use? PGMusic provides the following effects. PGMusic says, that you can download other effects too.

Velocity change does not change slider. Think of it as how hard the player hits the strings or piano or drums; not a volume slider but how the part is played originally.

Either Volume change or Expression change will move the slider. These are Control Changes (CC) numbered 7 and 11.
You can change the controller event being used in Piano Roll and draw in Volume curves that will change the slider. Also pan will change the panning.

Other (free) effects I grab for a new system -
Classic Compressor (by Kjauerhaus) sp?, for vocals
Spitfish
Blockfish (another compressor)
Ambience reverb
NyquistEQ5
One of the guitar amp sims (many available)
Helicon bass amp sim (2)

.. for starters

I guess, you are referring to these midi controls listed below. However, once I opened a midi file created with Finale in RB. All sliders start to move up and down when playback started. That explains my confusion.

But can you tell what controls Finale might have used in order to make volume sliders move in RB?

0 Bank Select
1 Modulation Wheel or Lever
2 Breath Controller
3 Undefined
4 Foot Controller
5 Portamento Time
6 Data Entry MSB
7 Channel Volume (formerly Main Volume)
8 Balance
9 Undefined
10 Pan
11 Expression Controller
12 Effect Control 1
13 Effect Control 2
12 Effect Control 1

Be sure to look at the "Event List" in Rb as well. It will show the different control changes / program changes etc as well: Chrous, Reverb, Rhodes Piano etc, *if* there are any in a given track.

Finale likely used Control Change 7
There are three ways to accomplish this in RB

1. Event List; Insert a control change Event on the correct MIDI channel with the desired volume change parameter (0-127)

2. Use the Piano Roll, change the controller to Volume (7) and draw in the desired changes.

3. Record mixer moves in the mixer window (this records as CC7 also).

In your list you can see controller 8 is panning, controller 11 is expression which will adjust the volume much like 7 BUT to highest volume will be the volume controller 7 is set to (think of it as a secondary volume control)
For most purposes you'll only need controller 7 to make volume changes.

Thank you for information and tips. I exported one file from Finale and look at it with RB EventList.

Parameters goes like this

2 <time> 2 VolCtrl 7 49
VolCntrl == Event name
7 = control number
49 = volume (possibly volume)

What about Note event?
RB help does not tell all column values.

Note = Event name
F#6 = note height / note name
71 = volume (possibly volume)
1881 (unknown)

2 <time> 2 Note F#6 71 1881

Tr Time Ch Event
2 <time> 2 VolCtrl 7 49
2 <time> 2 Note F#6 71 1881
2 <time> 2 VolCtrl 7 50
2 <time> 2 VolCtrl 7 51
2 <time> 2 VolCtrl 7 53
2 <time> 2 VolCtrl 7 55
2 <time> 2 VolCtrl 7 57
2 <time> 2 VolCtrl 7 59
2 <time> 2 VolCtrl 7 61
2 <time> 2 VolCtrl 7 63
2 <time> 2 VolCtrl 7 65
2 <time> 2 VolCtrl 7 66
2 <time> 2 VolCtrl 7 65
2 <time> 2 VolCtrl 7 64
2 <time> 2 VolCtrl 7 63
2 <time> 2 Note F#6 77 458
2 <time> 2 Note G6 71 202

By the way "note velocity" and VolCtrl go side by side in Finale,if I understand right.

Corrections below:

Note = Event name
F#6 = note height / note name [replaces note number, yes it is the note]

71 = volume (possibly volume) [not technically volume, rather velocity; see post above for the difference. Velocity can change volume or sound]

1881 (unknown) [duration; how many 'ticks' it is held until the note is released]

That series of CC7's at the bottom the event list you posted implies someone moving a slider over time, as in recording a mixer slider movement, or drawing in a 'curve' using the piano roll window in RB. It is a series of CC7 (volume) changes.

Velocity, depending on the synth can actually trigger a different sound, so it is important to realize that while velocity is often used for volume (within the synth patch itself) it can also serve other purposes. Example; an bass patch that uses finger strum on lower velocity but changes to a plucked string (pop) at higher velocity.

Anyway, the answer to your original question on making volume sliders move inside RB is CC7. If you used velocity you may change the actual timbre of the sound instead of just lowering it's volume.

Think of it this way; velocity equals how hard you hit the keys on a synth and volume equals how loud the synth is turned up (or down)
If the synth overall volume is low, hitting the keys harder will not increase the sound above the master volume of the synth. Instead it is attenuated by the volume (CC7) of the synth or track.
