Lyn's suggestion has worked after 'selecting whole track'.

If there is a break in between each edit (even if very small) use the 'smooth audio cuts' feature of the edits. This returns the waveform to the zero crossing point so there is no click. (essentially a crossfade)

If however you are lining audio up bit to bit (pasting a continuos note for example) you don't want it to return to zero, and must line up wave forms.

Usually if you zoom in close you can see where the waveform is misaligned. It will leap to a point, instead of being a smooth line. Once this is learned, getting rid of pops becomes easier.
