Hi, We've added a list of all songs posted to the user showcase, and it can be accessed from this page

http://www.pgmusic.com/user-showcase/?genre=jazz

It is also accessible from the Main forum page, below the user showcase.

It lists forum member name, genre, and a link to the forum post, where the user can get the link and discussion.

Note: If anyone doesn't want their songs listed on this page (or listed in the forum in general), please let us know and we'll remove them.

Brilliant idea, now I can REALLY waste time, in a good way, by listening to them all in one convenient place!
Thanks, and I agree with Ian Fraser "What an incredible number of songs!"

Did you have a song posted RodM? Is the link still working? It doesn't appear they picked and chose through them from Peters description. Did you use any PGMusic Products on the song and describe how?
Otherwise you should have been in the list I would assume. Oversight? Possible.

Hi Bob,

I'm sorry I sounded "hurt" on earlier post. I now realize they went through the older posts, not the brand new user forum songs. After listening to all the incredible talent on the listed genres, I certainly wouldn't blame BIAB for showcasing the best songs. The trouble with that is, they all sound great to me. How would you choose?
I had a bunch of older songs using BIAB, but I quickly took them down because I didn't think my songs were good enough to post so BIAB would have seen a broken link on those songs. I have some new Christmas songs using BIAB Midi and real tracks "A BIAB Christmas".
Any way I agree with Ian too. There is an incredible amount of talent using an phenomenal product (BIAB). I know I am grateful to have such a good product. For me, this is the only software where every upgrade is a "must have".

Thanks,
RodM

I am a living example of a small flaw in the logic. One song listed was housed at Soundcloud but has been taken down. Do we have an "update" process so we can avoid people going to apparently broken links when the song was taken down on purpose?

But a GREAT idea and we all appreciate the shortcut to listening to other user's work.

I think they went through the songs in this forum section, so if posted in another forum section they likely weren't included.

I wonder the same thing as Eddie. Since these links rely on songs existing on the user's server, can they be editable so as to keep them live in the event of the user changing severs? Maybe allowing the original poster some edit options later.. I'd like that.

Hi,
To echo everyone else: "An upgrade process to edit a link after the fact would be a great feature."
Bob,
I also noticed the incredible amount of work it took to put the user showcase list together. I don't think genre was listed on many of the original posts, but I guess the real tracks or midi tracks used would indicate genre. I did post my songs in this forum but it's really OK. I think the user showcase list of songs is current up to a couple of weeks ago. Maybe I'll make the next list. That is of course if I don't lose my nerve and hurry and delete my soundclick account. Nobody (except my wife) knows I'm into music anymore. It is a big step for me personally to post music public. I hope to rediscover a love of music I once had in my youth. I guess that is something I can still do privately too.
Thanks again,
RodM

Hi,
We've updated the list, to list songs that are newest and use lots of RealTracks/RealBand or BB in general nearest the top. Also added a tab called RealTracks that has songs that use lots of RealTracks.

Splendid initiative Peter, for which many thanks.

I wonder if there isn't a problem though. When I sort alphabetically by artist I'm getting one alphabetical run down from 90DB down to Zan Cantwell and then a second from airtcon-161 down to ve2cjw.

What would be the reason for this and is it something that it would be easy for you to correct?

Best regards,

Marc

It is case-sensitive, so it is showing A-Z, and then a-z. I agree that this doesn't make much sense, I'll ask the web designers, if there's a way around it.

Hi Skyline,

If there is a specific post in the User Showcase about a song (or group of songs), then they should make it into the list. For example:

http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/showflat.p...true#Post305707

Are there some specific songs that were missed?

Instead of a link to the thread that contains the link to the song, maybe a link to the song itself would be more user friendly; clicking a thread, then backing up to the original post with the actual song link can be tedious.
Example- a thread four pages long won't show the original link if the thread opens on page 4, so the user has to go back through the thread looking for the link. The longer this waits to change, the more work it'll be later.

Just an idea.

I can't open any of the links to the songs in the songlist
http://www.pgmusic.com/user-showcase/?genre=jazz
All the links send me to the Forum list page.

Perhaps this related to the change in the format of the forums?

That's what I'm talking about.... nice job.

Now... if you keep it updated on a weekly basis ......

Now.... it would be nice to have a filter or search function so one could narrow the list to a specific forum member's tunes....

Hey Peter,

I am a recent poster, feverish RB and BIAB fan and a Regional Coordinator for the Nashville Songwriters Association. Many of the songs on the link below including the top six on the list include an extensive use of Real Tracks and BIAB, along with my own playing and singing. The comment I made in my post is that a Nashville veteran asked me what studio in town I used to record them and I thought that was funny. I told a PG staffer and I think it made his day. I love your tools. Feel free to add the top six in this list plus Harbor Me, When the World was Real and Mary's Place to your list if you want because they were all done on a real band bed. Cheers.

I would like to make available the 150 original songs I wrote and recorded. All were written and arranged with the benefit of Band-in-a-Box over the last 18 years. I highlight one song The Trail Of Tears the first song at http://www.heartrockmusic.com/SongsOfTheMonth/album_month.html I used pnomood style, added my vocal, used the audio harmony function and finalized the song in Cakewalk. Most recently I upgraded my album dedicated to the environment: http://www.heartrockmusic.com/album_earth/album_earth.html Finally if you enjoy history I've an album dedicated to events of historical significance, at: http://www.heartrockmusic.com/album_history/album_history.html Again, all were made possible by BIAB with its impressive features, Needless to say I am a big fan and look forward to further upgrades. I haven't missed an upgrade for all those 18 years.

i would suggest a search by date option and a date posted column

this may highlight the advances in biab\rb as well as demonstrate that even with earlier versions great songs were produced

it could also inspire folks to thinks about redoing their earlier songs using the newer features

humm could be a contest idea there "best user showcase redux" ???????????????????????????

Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
