That device has three settings. I believe default (when turned on) is for Piano/Solo mode, which allows one sound. Have you switched it to arranger/band mode before hitting play from BiaB?
You may also have to set it to GM mode to get the expected sounds. This can be done from the Roland EXR-3S or by sending a GM Mode ON message from BiaB normally.
Just my first two guesses.
Pages 43 and 44 give an idea how this board handles MIDI assigned sounds, along with the MIDI section of the owners manual.
