I think it very nice of all to advocate free speech (of which I am a great fan) but I can only be in TOTAL agreement with John C's first post in that the creator of this post has a complete agenda outside (& trying to spread inside) of this forum. just visit his websites to understand his depth. As for quoting pakistan & what is happening over there.....then I think he has totaly mis-understood (or been convinced to misunderstand)the meaning. The religeous fanatics are the only people to take up on that story & its all over the net on any site which starts bu church, cath etc... What is more they only say the there is a list which the word Jesus Christ is banned, they forget that on the ficticious list there is also Devil, Satan which means that all sermons will come to nothing if they can't mention Jesus but even more so if they can't mention what is bad!!!!!

Now, it doesn't bother me at all that people post songs about god, jesus, mohammed or any other worshipped person or being because that is part of a lot of people's lives & I believe evryone should be free to think whatever they like but hidden agenda's are not my thing at all & as John quite rightly said there are forum's where everyone can find their own particular happiness but I don't think this is one of them.

Music is (I hope) everyone here's religon, & long may it live

It seems that what is offensive here is the mention of God. Anything else can be and often is talked to death.

What I find offensive is members posting unsubstantiated rumors as fact. It doesn't take but a little extra effort to research something before accusing people of being anti-religous. If folks can't do that the forum devolves into the electronic mass media equivalent of old women gossiping across the back fence.

The sad thing is that the entire tired old Diamond Rio story purports to be a defense of Christianity against an assault from anti-Christians, but it bears false witness in order to rally the troops. How very UN-Christian.

John,

In all do respect I disagree with your statement re: “hidden agenda”. I don’t think for one minute PGFantastic has a hidden agenda as he is very “open and proud regarding his beliefs”, as well he and even others who share opposing beliefs should be. So to think that he has a “hidden agenda” is borderline naive. Plus he also makes some pretty good music.

Regarding the facts of his story being incorrect that is another story, but to ban his post because one feels he has a “hidden” agenda is ridiculous. Now if you want to ban it because of his professing his beliefs on the forum that is another question. But in my opinion I think that decision should be made by PG Music not a forum member.

Personally I can’t in my wildest dream imagine how this post got so many people this riled so quickly. Especially, when you consider some of the past topics and related post that have made their way through the forum.

Now regarding banning Gospel music from the forum, I ask where does it stop? I do not like hip hop and rap but I will defend your right to post them on this forum until the day I die, this is a music forum not an “only music I approve of forum”.

My new motto is going to be “I am only offended by people who get offended”.

Happy Thanksgiving All,

IMHO, it wasn’t the OP’s comment that got it started. It was John’s lengthy anti-religion rant. John has the right to say whatever he wants, (within the bounds of civility, etc.), but it’s kind of puzzling why the thread triggered it. Without John’s post, I think this one may have passed through without a single comment.

If you don’t like a thread, why not just ignore it? Unless of course you feel it needs to be addressed.

Happy Thanksgiving!

to tell mr conley (the other JC) that he riled everybody on the forum just adds another feather in his cap. that is his sole purpose for existing. if the moderators were to investigate every destructive, antagonistic outburst on these forums they would find john at the heart of each of them. if he did not actually start the dissension then he's there in its midst piling on flammable fuel then fanning the flames. i, for one, am tired of his badgering fellow forum members. his ego-maniacal mouth has driven people, that i can name, away from pg music. that translates to lost revenue to peter. how much longer will peter tolerate his attitude? i have considered quitting these forums due to his badgering people that i happen to love. he has learned to leave me alone but i refuse to remain silent any longer. peter?

I can actually turn you in circles with descriptions of Hebrew translations and etc. but do you really want that level of boredom?

mr conley, sir, i can hardly dispute the logic of that statement! you are a 32nd degree "circle turner" blue ribbon winner, guinness book record-holder, undisputed world record champion "circle turner." sad thing is, i still love you dearly. i think i'll send you an aluminum canoe paddle so you can keep raising the stink to nostril level. surely you have a doctorate in stink stirring along with your innumerable academic accomplishments. if it is delivered by two elderly, stove-up jehovah's witness ladies armed only with a bible, don't run them off of your "kingdom" again. you'll have to sign for it.

the first rule in teaching is...turn the students in circles. - dr. john conley (aka the other jc)
second rule: don't teach, confuse.

Quote:

john, with your vast linguistic talents, knowledge, and background, tell me please...why does my bible show the divine name, jehovah, nearly 7,000 times while yours shows it only 4 times or not at all? which of us has "grieved the holy spirit by adding to or taking away from god's word?" (Deuteronomy 4:1-2) . . .. 2 YOU must not add to the word that I am commanding YOU, neither must YOU take away from it, so as to keep the commandments of Jehovah YOUR God that I am commanding YOU.

my goal is to win hearts not arguments so let the readers discern which of us has the true bible based evidence to share. "as for me and my household, we shall serve jehovah!"

an interesting preface to the revised standard version (RSV) reads: "when the word LORD (all capitals) appears it means JEHOVAH. jehovah's witnesses did not write the RSV or any of dozens of other translations that render the divine name faithfully throughout. certainly, with your superior language skills and academic accomplishments, you already know that. it is true that, due to the many documented errors in the king james version (KJV), jehovah's witnesses endeavored to do a modern english version (new world translation, NWT) which is well respected by modern bible scholars like yourself for its candor and accuracy. up to that printing (about 1950) we used the KJV and we are generally comfortable in any bible translation.

(1 Corinthians 8:1-3) . . .. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. 2 If anyone thinks he has acquired knowledge of something, he does not yet know [it] just as he ought to know [it]. 3 But if anyone loves God, this one is known by him. . .

personally, i have many different bible translations that i use in my door-to-door ministry (in imitation of the 1st century apostles and that other JC) and personal bible studies. many newly interested ones prefer to confirm what i teach them by first seeing it in their own bible so i carry several popular translations in my saddlebag. when they see it written in modern-day english they ask for a copy of the NWT which i generally give to them as a free gift. we have no paid clergy class to "fleece the flock" so small donations support our worldwide work.

you obviously know the physical persecutions upon jehovah's witnesses in canada during ww2. our women were gang raped, real property illegally taken, our children expelled from your public schools, brothers fired from their jobs, refused food at grocers, many were forced out of their homes then beaten or raped then tarred and feathered all because we respected the bible view on christian neutrality. it's all well documented in the public record but you already knew that, right? so we continue going from door-to-door seeking those right-hearted ones "who are sighing and crying over the detestable things" going on in the earth. obviously there are "sheep" remaining or jehovah would tell us to stop harvesting. judging by our phenomenal growth we are striking a responsive chord worldwide. meanwhile, in nazi germany, jehovah's witnesses were sent to death camps and crematoriums for refusing to go to war and kill their "more civilized" canadian brothers.

You know I love ya bro, but you can't seriously think there's any need for Peter to get involved in this!!

What you're advocating is censorship or hard line policing of forum rules.

Neither is good. I'm asking you to give this a little more thought before trying to drag Peter in on something when it's clearly not needed.

I don't really have an issue with most of John's Post, since i rarely even understand them.

This one to me was a tad out of line, but I have seen worse. Religion and politics! Wow two emotionally charged subjects. I usually stay away from both, unless i feel the need.

Anywho, nothing here really to get so rowdy about.

bob, i truly love you too. just color me "fed up!" you are one that he drove away and you are a greater, more constructive contributor to these forums than he ever will be. as i said before, he brings out the worst in me and others.

i'm not the least bit concerned about the OP but very much concerned about his ceaseless badgering on these forums.

Hm. I've got this really great idea: Since this is the Off Topic forum, what's the chance that, if someone absolutely has to talk about religion or politics, they put "Religion:" or "Politics:" at the beginning of the subject line? That way, those who don't want to get involved will know to avoid.

Or we could just make some more music, and move on.

There are far too many nice people here for me to want to lose any of you to flame wars.

The description for this forum: Off-Topic: This forum is for music-related discussions that aren't about PG Music products.

Seems like this thread is within the boundaries of the forum guidelines. Yes, it seems that that the OP is propagating an untrue rumor -- but the truth is always a little bit unknown, isn't it? Seems like much to do about nothing. The lyrics, as sung here, are pretty generic. No harm, no foul I say.

*************************************************************
In God We Still Trust
(was this originally written by the Nash family???)

You place your hand on His Bible, when you swear to tell the Truth
His name is on our greatest Monuments, and all our money too,
And when we Pledge allegiance, there's no doubt where we stand,
There is no separation, we're one Nation under Him.

Chorus:
In God We Still Trust
Here in America
He's the one we turn to every time
The goin' gets rough
He is the source of all our Strength
The One who watches over us
Here in America
In God We Still Trust

Now there are those among us, who want to push Him out,
And erase His name from everything, this country's all about,
From the Schoolhouse to the Courthouse, they're Silencing His Word,
Now it's time for all Believers, to make our Voices heard.

In God We Still Trust,
Here in America
He's the one we turn to every time
The goin' gets rough
He is the source of all our Strength
The One who watches over us
Here in America
In God We Still Trust

Here in America
Here in America
Here in America,

In God We Still Trust
Here in America,

In God We Still Trust
Here in America

Note: I didn't check the accuracy of these lyrics.

Well, Mr PG Fantastic did us the courtesy of puting "god" in the subject line. It's pass-at-your-own-risk after that, Im thinkin'.

people post links to songs on youtube all the time, but nobody ever objects unless the link is to a religious song. I wonder why that is?

I would imagine that the objection to copy written material has to do with you recording a CW song, and posting it, not to posting the original artist version.
