My vsti plays parts that are allready recorded flawlessly but I cant get them to play from the keyboard. Consequently I cant hear the part as Im laying it down initially. On playback they play the part perfectly.
Suggestions please. Thanks all.

Are you using Re-route MIDI to VSTi synth or assigning each track to a VSTi synth? Is there a default VSTi or DXi synth working?
If so, what is it?
Sometimes it's MIDI transmit channel from the keyboard not matching soft synth, sometimes it related to the MIDI thru settings ..
Could even be the MIDI input and output drivers. If using MIDIMapper instead of correct device it can cause issues. What's listed in MIDI devices are for in/out?
Also are you using ASIO or MME? What soundcard?
More info needed to try to help.

In midi devices I have Layla 3g listed. Ihave none listed as default vsti and unchecked send all midi to default vsti. Drivers are MME. soundcard is Layla 3G.

you need to check 'reroute all midi to default DXi synth' for it to work. DXi and VSTi are treated as the same thing here. If this in not enabled you will hear nothing from the VSTi via MIDI input.
Make sure thru is enabled foe MIDI also.
MME will likely be 'slow'to respond, known as latency.
Maybe ASIO4All or updating ASIO drivers for Layla will give you a working ASIO driver so it is faster to respond.

Just tried that. Didnt work. I can get asio to work kind of but only at l024 buffer, but it doesny change the non working vsti at all.
