If it's just up or down an octave try pressing CTL ALT 1 or CTL ALT 2 at the same time while on the track. Up one octave, or down one octave.

Really, once you can read bass clef it matters not the octave to a player.

In my case they keep insisting on american style charts and I have to transpose up an octave in my head to treble clef AND drop three flats on the fly. Oh the nightmare when you try to learn to do that at age 60. Then the piece is at 220 bpm in 2. That's when I get out a notation program and have at it.
