Thank you all for the votes so far.
This software is more than a tool and it would mean being able to stay with the software right through the creative process, instead of switching to some other to build the song to an endpoint.

Apart from BIAB I have no 32 bit programs. On the same machine I run Cubase 6 and many 64 bit VST maybe 20 or more. When I installed these i just installed the 64 bit apps. my guess is that some VSTs will no longer suppprt 32 bit soon.
If I want to get these VSTs working in BIAB its a trip to the loft and several days of set up for VSL, Play Halion, Kontakt, HAlion Symphonic Orchestra Absynth Omnisphere, Stylus RMX Trillian and a lot more.
BIAB is both way ahead (real tracks) and way behind the times I noted that the interface still mentions Windows 95 in one of its dialogue boxes.
Do we expect all VST developers to stay with 32 bit?

There's a simple consideration that all software publishers will have to deal with at one point or another: 64-bit processors are becoming more and more common, along with the 64-bit operating systems to run on them. Eventually, 32-bit OSs will be phased out, and everyone will have to go 64-bit.
Better sooner than later, says I.

And right now, on my 2 win7 64 bit systems, one a quad core with everything pak and the other a laptop can one of you educated users tell me what I'm going to get.
For example, say it came out as 2013. And that's the entire new feature.
So the program is the same, but it's 64 bit. Are all those who are beating this to death going to put down the money now? Say you have to put up $100 bucks now, and one hundred sign up, tell me now you are going to fork over the cash before the end of business Monday. 1
Now 100 times 100 is peanuts in Canada, we spend that on beer per capita per week LOL.

Let me please re-iterate that I think Peter has a unique concept and I have been with this software since its inception.
I agree wholeheartedly that nothing comes near to the way the software delivers an immediate offering of chords, in a limitless array of styles. There is a hardcore fanbase .... absolutely no doubt about that. Midi enthusiasts can go nuts with this software and audio nuts likewise. Asio freaks, have had their way and alternatives still play along.
Here is the simple fact.
Development ......... that is 2012 development, necessitates the implementation of 64 bit architecture. It has to be.
@John .... I don't know how hardcore you are sir .... but please speak just a little more plainly. With respect, your dialect confuses me.

I can see the nightmare unfold.
(The devil is making me advocate)
Some users scour around to find an Xp machine because a whack of stuff won't run at all on Vista or any 64 bit machine.
So then you are going to need two versions of band in a box.
32 bit and 64 bit.
Right now, even with Win 7, 32 bit is an option.
But here, new users who are amateur musicians and not computer people have to decide all the current outlay of product, which is confusing at best, but then they have to decide 32 or 64 bit. Then they find out that band in a box won't use billy joe's taser plug in, and billy joe is NOT going to fix it for 64 and then they return the 64 bit for a 32 bit, only to find out that there is no 32 bit anything on Windows 9, so won't the forums be fun.
Now our newbie posts a problem.
But someone says, which version.
OK, then some one says which o/s.
OK, then some one asks which is it 32 or 64
Of course to some of the above our fearless new user to the forum, who may or may not have paid for anything, cannot figure out how to run dxdiag and doesn't know 8 from 64.
BUT again one central question remains.
What do I get, at the end of the day. My quad core system with the fancy video card, 10 gigs of memory, 1 TB hard drive, is running win 7 / 64 and is up to date.
I'm not against this for me, but if 2013 was 64 bit only 2/3 of the customers would be out of luck, that's my opinion.
So far neither question has been addressed.
What to I get? Speed is not an issue for me, but, make everything almost instantaneous, perhaps.
I really don't care.
We have cowbell, I just need a really good euphonium section. Then Eflat Tuba solos. After that the Bbb Tuba waltzes.
I'm hoping to get Hummel's tour de force on a rotary baritone (as a purist in E), then for tuba later. But I need more realistic backing tracks...LOL
@mal - of course I'm difficult to understand:
1. I live in the colonies.
2. I have used French as a first language for most of my life.
3. I watch some American tv.
4. I take more drugs that most musicians ever saw. In a week. Including psychotrippy stuff.

Sorry, John, but I'm not buying it. Windows used to run on 16-bit computers; before that, 8-bit....
Technology moves on. That's just the case. Sooner or later, there will be a 64-bit BIAB; sooner or later, Windows, Mac, and Linux will move beyond 32-bit chips.
I'm not against any version of BIAB -- obviously I'm running a 32-bit version on my 64-bit Win7 system right now -- but I'm definitely on the side of at least pointing out that This Cannot Last Forever. And, given how very many programs already are 64-bit, I don't think it's out of line to speculate as to when this one will follow suit, or to advocate it.
Heck, I'm hoping that eventually we're all running a 24-bit .wav Audiophile edition. Not seeing it happening for a few years, though.

Well I don't think, at this conjuncture, that it's a good solution.
Once the next version of Windows comes out and speed becomes available to do new processor intensive things then maybe.
And the new version with those plug ins that will hog resources will have some xp users trying to buy win 7 64 systems with a whack of memory.
I'm not against progress, heck I had the first hard drive in town except for IBM and DEC stuff on mainframes, the first distributed Unix network in the province and ran a basement with 5 staff, 2 unix boxes and we printed A/R stuff for 2 nights running, while I tried to sleep upstairs.
68000, 68010 to 68040, Motorola and NCR boxes, and I thought we had a bunch of fun.
I just see too much complexity in the 32 vrs 64 bit thing, it's almost like (don't say this outloud,) that MIDI might die with 32 bit stuff. Tough call.
The other thing of course is the program was INTENDED to be a band in a box, not a short cut for a daw in a box/recording studio.
I repeat the former phrase.
One can argue for hours about 32 vrs 64 bit cowbell, and discuss the merits of the Swiss country side plugin vrs the home on the range plugin and to what extent one should add more reverb. Wow.
So in short: No one can say for any certainty that a 64 bit version will do anything more than maybe load faster or process faster. Will is solve latency?
And again: PG cannot drop support for 32 bit systems, so the level of support would go way up. Then do you know if a 64 bit compiler is available for the language of development? I don't.
I run 64 bit Avid stuff for videos, and 64 bit Open Office (I assume).
Heck just release 64 bit and I'll use it. Why not?
In my kids' lifetimes the program will reside on PG's servers and you'll have a directory there, log in, make music with the latest program in 128 bit, all your files in the cloud, and you'll pay per use, with a certain amount every year for the privilege. Free tickets to the Rock and Roll Hall of fame with your tour guide, East Side Eddie, 50 bucks an hour plus you buy his hot dogs and root beer floats.

Seriously though. There is no complexity with 32 v 64. I am running 64 bit Win 7 Ultimate. All 32 and 64 software run just fine. Any probs and I place 32 bit dll's into jbridge while I wait for the software to go 64 bit.
I use 1000 rpm for C drive .... 750 rpm for 4 .... 2 terrabyte drives, 24 gig of ram and a GTX 590 along with an Asus soundcard. I now use usb 3 for transfer to external drives and am more than happy with the machine I have put together. I'm kind of used to 64 bit now.
64 is here, has been for quite a while and the improvements are impressive.
I'm an old dog now but strive to keep up while the marrow is there.

Most of my family came from Islay and Skye, and one branch from near Belfast.
And the wife is from Lothian and Colonsay. We found that out after our marriage, I think we are related.
Once we arrived in the promised land my family did not intermarrying thing, but my wife, well her mother's side is all French.
All of that matters in that Celts drone on. Just ask the rest of the older members here, I can drone.

Now that they allow a VST on every track it is easy to run out of memory in the 32 bit space.
I actually did it once already tonight. (BFD2 drums, Line 6 amps and a Garritan orchestra)
64 bit is needed now more than ever.
Studio One (latest version), Win 11 23H2 , i9 -10940X 3.3 GHz, 32GB Mem, a 4K 40" monitor, PreSonus Studio Live III Console as interface/controller. secondarily test on Reaper, Cakewalk, and S1 on Surface Pro 3 Win 10 (latest versions).

I'm really curious now, how much memory are you talking about and exactly what VST's are you using that have mega sample sizes that caused you to run out of memory? I have fully loaded SampleTank, JABB, Jamstix, Emulator X. On my old machine I was running 10-15 tracks sometimes with plugins with no problems. My new box is lightyears ahead of that one.
I would bet but of course can't prove that 99.99% of Biab users would never even come close to needing that kind of power to run VST's and plugins. In fact I would be surprised if the number who actualy do that is more than 10. Not 10% just 10 period. Ok, say it's 100. Doesn't matter. There's a few complete pro's who own and run multimillion dollar studios who use Biab for occasional demo work for clients who can't afford to hire the house band. I'm sure there's a few Hollywood heavyweight types with a couple hundred grand of equipment who might really need that but man, to have PG do this kind of redesign for whatever the true number is? Personally I don't see it.
Another point is the cost of those mega plugins. It can easily run 2-3 grand for all that stuff including the sound libraries. I just bought a brand new in the box Kurzweil PC3 keyboard. I'm telling you the sounds in that thing are simply great. They are better than pretty much all of my different plugins including the horns and orchestral stuff in JABB. That keyboard cost me $1,350. That covers a ton of VSTi's then there's the new Korg Kronos I wrote about in another thread. That is about 4 grand since it's brand new and just came out. Rather than worry about 64 bit this or that and needing a $3,000 top of the line i7 PC with 32 gigs of ram in order to run these super VSTi's just buy my Kurzweil or another high end keyboard. You can use that with any old computer and sound like the New York Phil. Don't believe me? Check out the specs on the PC3 with the hotrodded DSP section and all the amp modelling and other stuff going on in that unit. It already has the equivilant to Amplitude and many other sims. Mine doesn't have the new sampling option that's why it's now going so cheap. The sampling one is called the K version. Yes I know it's kind of cool to have all that inside the computer but my Kurz is very powerful when it comes to sound design and effects. One of the first things I discovered about the Kurz is I can create and save my own GM soundbank using all of the Kurz patches. How cool is that? As soon as Christmas is over and I have more time that's one of the first things I'm going to do. The hot i7 with these fully loaded plugs can cost somebody 5 grand or more.
Just another take on this. Don't get me wrong, I'm a high tech geek type but I'm also cheap. I'm very big on doing "bang for the buck" analysis.

"32 bit o/s biz is going to die very hard. XP was quite stable and ran a lot of stuff Vista 64 and Win 64 cannot, and in many cases the software may be orphaned but has a hard core of users. My best friend is a prof and always used WordPerfect. He upgraded to Win7 and it just won't work, always hanging, etc. So guess what, brand new machine now has XP again. "Open Office", well he claims to be an old dog, so no new tricks."
Tell your old dog that open office looks and feels just like MS office, the variations are too small to be a worry to 99.99% of the world, and those it is will be clever enough to adapt straight away. It even runs MS files after all. I tried the Vista thing as was really really happy when the machine went wrong after three days, rushed out and bought three XP laptops. BiaB does everything I need on XP, so downgrading to a later version of Micropoos OS is not going to happen anytime soon. I suspect that at the end of this cycle I will switch to Linux, anyone know of any issues with BiaB and or realband over there?.

Your opening remark lacks foundation. There would be no point coming up with new Operating Systems without significant improvement. The same applies to software and for our purposes, music software and for the purposes of this thread, the possibilities of a 64 bit Band in a Box.
Windows XP diehards have just gotten used to that way of working and are reticent when faced with new and improved ways of moving forward. Of course there are glitches. For me the XP MPU-401 was supported only on XP and my keyboards ran just fine. On Vista and Win 7 problems with MPU-401 support. It's no big deal. A simple MPU-401 adapter to USB worked fine.
What is exciting is being offered full VST use on every track. So it's reasonable to assume that 64 bit software would seem a certainty in the near future.

Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
