other don, i think that's a good suggestion. as sure as death and taxes, your hard drive WILL FAIL and it WILL NEVER be at a convenient time. its murphy's law. there is a good chance that you can still recover your data. i would go to www.majorgeeks.com and ask their help.

just saw mac's post and must agree. however, if you must send your box back to hp then you are assured that the data is lost so make every effort at recovery FIRST.

the problem with that is, they won't send a new machine until they get the old one. otherwise, its a capital idea.
