Hey Guys, Although I've been using BB/RB for over a year and follow along with the forums all the time, this is my first post and I just want to say I'm amazed at how much effort you guys (and gals) put into helping each other out and sharing techniques and tips etc. I've learned a lot from all of you. I write songs and have no band and really don't play that well myself so RB has been the best investment I've ever made.

That being said, the issue I seem to be having in Real Band is with the Direct Input RTs. I wanted to play around a little with the Amplitube and see what it could do. So I started out with a new song and went to RT selector and chose "RT630 Gtr\Elec\PopAmerican Dirty" which had a Y in the Direct Input column. I checked the DI "Y" box and hit OK. But when I listened to the generated track it sounded like the regular instrument (Distorted Guitar). So on another track I selected the same RT again but this time left the DI unselected. The two tracks sound the same (except for the strumming pattern). I closed down, rebooted and tried again with different RTs (1607 and a few others) making sure each had a "Y" in the DI column in the RT selector. Same results.

Then I went poking around and found the DI RT files in the RealTracks folder and I played it with MediaPlayer and indeed the DI versions are Clean versions. I even went back to my test song and imported the Clean version WMA file just to listen side by side and the DI version used by RB to generate the track is definitely NOT the clean version. I checked and there are no FX on any tracks so nothing should be altering the sound. It really sounds like the program is not using the Clean versions to generate the tracks.

I have the 2012 Ultrapak, upgraded from 2011. I upgraded using the download files (still waiting for the HD). I don't know if it makes a difference but I only installed the main programs (I checked and they are the latest builds) the 3 DI RT files, the 2012 Holds/Shots and all of the new RT sets from 2011.5 and 2012 and Amplitube (which appears to be working OK).

I did try to do a test in BB also and the two tracks generated (one with and one without the DI) were as expected. So it is only an RB problem.

So am I missing a step here? Is anyone else having the same problem? Should I maybe try a clean install when I get my HD?

Thanks for any ideas.
