If you've ran BiaB (even from the hard drive) you will likely still have a C:\bb folder from the initial run/installation. This will have kept track of your version updates along the way. So if you have recent versions (even just on hard drive) I'm betting you still have a C:\bb folder that will allow even an upgrade installation.

Even if you don't have C:\bb (which is unlikely); just upgrade the existing external drive 2011version by running the install pointed to there (to external drive). I do this every version. This way your old hard drive serves as a backup to the 2012 version. I always keep a back up of the current version for emergency. It lays right next to the working one .. and looks just like it.
Those drives are worth the extra $$ between DVD mega and Ultra hard drive version by themselves. Let alone you get all the tracks.
