My son has been trying to put together a Jazz band, and the problem of finding enough musicians he's willing to play with has been driving him nuts. Last weekend he auditioned a drummer who seemed to believe that louder = better. He's also had problems with people not showing up for practice, quitting after they invest a lot of time learning the songs, and just not being good enough to play jazz. Also, he's tired of dragging the equipment around, then splitting up the cash among so many people that nobody makes any money. I'm sure you know the drill... you may be using BIAB for approximately the same reasons

The time was right. Last night I invited him over for a look at BIAB and RB. It's such a feature rich program that we barely had time to scratch the surface, but I tried to show him features I knew were important to him (especially the cool jazz and funk styles)

He liked the lead sheets, and the big guitar /bass window. He liked the way he can add studio musicians to play along with his own original performances. He's a .NET programmer, and he was quite impressed by the scope of the program, and by how well it was conceived and executed.

I've shown him BIAB before and he didn't like the MIDI; but this time he was very impressed with the sound of the real tracks. We spent the rest of the evening talking about the possibilities. He was genuinely excited, and plans to use it for backing tracks to jump start the band. SO I guess that'll be his Christmas present this year.
