Hi

Im new here but a long time user of BIAB, Im using 2008.5 with patch 263 on windows XP.

Ive put together a track that users both real tracks/real drums and midi also has a real track solo for 16 bars.

All is well when playing it, and all was well when rendering out to seperate wav files (these are then imported into reason and logic express on my Apple MAC for post mixing/mastering, with my first set of rendering files sounding excellent.

I then wished to drop the tempo from 124bpm to 105bpm (real style was a 120bpm style and real track was 102bpm) now all plays ok until I render out to wav files, the song has a four bar piano intro but the wav files after rendering seem to come in on bar 3 (missing off the first two bars) with the exception of the real track solo which seems to be running to time so to speak and hence it starts two bars late and overruns into the next phrase although some of the drums sound a little off in places as well.

I thought it was due to changing the tempo so I have changed it back and rebuilt all the relevant real tracks and re-rendered but the same thing is happening, it also seems to be doing it on straight render to midi file, is there any settings that may effect this, I have tried both leadin/drum count in on/off etc

Cheers

Hi,

I have had similar problems before, then the problem had something to do with "include 2 bar lead-in in MIDI file" setting in midi file options. I tried direct render with BIAB 2009 (build 282), simple song 2 bar intro, 2 bar chorus, 2 bar ending, tempo 120: if "include 2 bar lead-in" in the render dialog was not ticked, rendered midi tracks were missing the 2 bar intro. Melody realtrack and realdrum tracks were rendered correctly. When 2 bar lead-in was ticked, render was ok, two empty bars and then other bars correctly. MIDI file setting had no effect. Maybe there is still some other setting affecting the rendering?

Thanks for these posts, I'm having the same problem. However, I seem to recall having seen a post that said the 2 bar intro option had to be checked--which I have not been doing. This stuff is challenging.

Okay I have the same problem. I found that I have to check the 2 bar lead in box in the Render Window. When you do this, although it includes all the bars of your song, it also adds the count in tics. I've had this problem before and don't know why this is. The way I'm solving it now is to load my song into WavePad (what I use but there are other pgms such as Audacity). Then I just delete the ticks and resave the file. It's a pain but it works. FWIW

The early entry of instruments in a Render seems to be a persistant problem to many (including myself). If it sounds right when you Play a BIAB song, a Render should capture that identically. If it does not, you may want to try a real time record using the 'R Aud' button. This will create a Wav file of everything you hear as it plays. Another workaround would be to use RealBand.

Thanks for those tips. Real Band is next on my list and I'll check out the R aud button.

Well I manged to solve this yesterday, but I had to set biab back to factory settings to do so, I did a simple four bar intro and four bar song, rendered it and it started after two bars (ie two bars early), so after pulling much hair out, I went into options and took the entry to set settings back to factory setup, after reseting up the midi device I loaded up the song I was having issues with, didnt change any settings on the render screen, and rended out to wav files and it worked perfectly.

Not sure what settings were changed or if there was some other issue but the reset certainly seems to have solved it.

Thanks for all your replies and suggestions, you seem a really good bunch of people its nice to get constructive replies rather than the some time typical responses to new forum members (read the manual etc etc)

Cheers

I'm not quite sure why, but sometimes we put things in those bars and it's hard to get the stuff out again. This happens to me even though I choose "erase" from the edit menu. I've finally developed a habit of multiple saves using a different file name each time. I've done this with other pgms as well. I just have to go back and delete all the files prior to the last version unless I want to keep some for variation. This practice has saved my sanity more than once. FWIW
