I know it's Christmas eve guys but I wonder if anyone can help me figure out this one out.

I'm trying to render to WAVE 4 MIDI tracks USING the instruments from MY Korg X50 Synth's GM bank and 2 Realband Tracks for loading into my DAW but it insists I need to change the midi option and use the DXi synth for the MIDI tracks.

I'm sure I have done it before but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it can't be done using an external synth/sound card or possibly needs a different approach or I have the setting wrong in biab.

Any help would be welcome.

Merry Christmas
Jeff

Take the MIDI tracks to your DAW as MIDI and record them to audio there..

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Hi Rharv,
Not sure I understand that. The render is from biab and not a midi file as such although guess I could save it as a midi file first but starts to get long winded.

I don't understand why biab can't pick up the X50 driver and use the sounds from it when they play perfectly well via biab itself but have to use the DXi synth to do the same job.

Merry Christmas.

Because the MIDI is getting converted to audio outside of the computer. You could just record the synth to the audio track, but then it's all mixed together into one audio track.
I like keeping the sounds separate until final mix. Drag/drop feature should make it quick and easy. Drag the whole combo over to DAW.

The term 'render' implies using a softsynth inside the computer.

Thanks for your help rharv.
I understand what's happening more now. It's bit dissapointing really, coz as I see it then and after some experimenting, a good quality GM sound module or Synth will make no difference to my setup having to use the DXi to enable me to transfer biab tracks to wave into my DAW.
Apart from as you say as a realtime recording but resulting in the whole song on one track.

I now remember I had this problem a few years ago when I had my old multitrack mixer so I used to record each track in realtime to the mixer using the Korg X50 GM sounds. Long winded but it worked as the Korg mixer had a sensor option to auto record as soon as it heard the first note, so everything was in time and position. I don't think I can do that in Guitar Tracks or Sonar. It's one reason I tended to follow the realtracks developements and use MIDI less and less.
I wonder how others working in the same way get around this problem.
I guess a top sound module/synth is great for play back quality of Biab songs but I do want to edit and mix in my DAW.

I actually tried REALBAND last night first time I have used it for a long time, certainly improved since I did, think I will look at it closer now.

Happy New Year to ALL.

You should be able to drag the MIDI into RB or Sonar and record it to separate tracks there.
Suggest watching the video once to see how -

Hi rharv,
Thanks you're a life saver and TIME too. I got chance to try the drag to DAW option and it works fine in Sonar and uses the X50 Gm no problem. Not much luck with Guitar Tracks but it's a bit limited regards MIDI options but no matter, I'm sorted now.

Of course when I last messed around trying this it was before the DAW drag and drop option was available so had not thought to try that.
Thanks for your help.
Happy New Year.

Yeah, those videos may take a few minutes to watch, but they save time in the long run. Well worth seeing how it is supposed to work.

Hi rharv, Well I didn't actually look at the videos, just tried your suggested drag and drop. I should really watch more of them to become more conversed with all the features of biab like i have done with the amplitude it certainly helps and saves time.
Thanks. Jeff
