I'm working on a jazz backing track which is triple time, and needs to be c.232 bpm.
The only waltz piano I have is Miles Black's Rhythm Jazz Waltz from RT Set 28, rated at 140 bpm. I find that one is not very happy being stretched to 232.
The only other two I can see are Mike Le Donne's JazzWaltzNY in set 130, and Miles Black's Rehearsal Waltz in set 76, both also rated at 140 bpm.
Is there any reason to think the newer piano RT's might stretch as far as 232 more comfortably ? Any other thoughts or suggestions ?

If you have version 2012, did you try using the "Force Track to Simple Arrangement" option?
Just checking, in preferences, RealTracks, are the checkboxes on for "Speed Up" & "High Quality", and off for "Use +/-"?

Andy,
There is a style "filter" in the style picker list. Select the style (hi-lited), then click "prototype button. Next, at the top, click the filter button. Next, set style to "tempo and feel match". Then select "midi and real tracks" setting.
Once you have filtered with those settings, the style list will show only the styles that match your original prototype selection. You can audition them and see if they will now work at 232 bpm.

Thanks Matt. "Force to simple" makes no discernible difference. And yes, those are the RT preferences I'm using. 140 speeded up to 232 is not unusably awful, it just sounds 'not right' - which was why I wondered if the newer waltz RT's would be any different. Thanks again - Best for the NY - Andy

Thanks for that. I only use RTs, so I don't pay any attention to styles. But now you have me wondering if a midi piano might sound better than the heavily speeded-up RT. I shall experiment! Thanks again - Best for the NY - Andy

Try something that's not a waltz. It often works fine.

The other thing you can do is try a jazz style with guitar instead of piano.

Unlike many other sounds, piano and organ are ones the midi often does justice too.
