Hi All, Experimenting with biab and Amplitude to create this Mark Knopler style 'realtracks' instrumental. Used 3 guitar solo tracks and mixed with Sonar X1. Would welcome any comments or advice for improvement, favourable or not. Hey, that's a nice mix -- sounds good to me. I hate when those real tracks can just put my playing to total shame. Well, I guess there is always practice!

Hi Jeff That's an interesting chord progression and I liked the idea of having three different-sounding lead sections. Can I venture some suggestions? - On my headphones the mix sounds very muddy. The acoustic rhythm guitar panned right is very indistinct and would benefit from some EQ - try taking the bottom off as I think it's occupying the same frequency as the bass, which I couldn't pick out. Ditto for the acoustic guitar on the left. - Your lead parts panned centre are not only overwhelmed by the boominess of the L and R rhythm guitar parts but they also have too much reverb and would benefit from some EQ - try adding some upper mids and highs - less reverb and some EQ tweaks will make them seem nearer as well as brighter and prominent, which is what they should be on a showcase like this. - Leave some spaces in the lead work...  There's a note on almost every single beat throughout - spaces and notes are both needed to make solos interesting! John

i also liked the chord progression. it's away from the highly predictable norm. i don't hear that well to delve into the sonic structure but my overall response was, great job! please keep'em comin'.

Q: Can I venture some suggestions?
A: Certainly John, Mixing especially is still a learning curve for me and I do tend to overdo things rushing to get on to the next project so all the advice I can get will be very helpful. I'll take your suggestions on board and have another go with the mix.

I like this one. I have always been a fan of Knopfler. You must have redone the mix since John's comments. It sounds pretty good to me. Thanks for sharing.
