Yes, there are a few reasons why tracks can sound better with the new version.
1. Better tempo stretching (introduced in version 2011)
2. More styles, with tempo swapping available, and automatic. e.g. if you have a swing fast swing style loaded, and change the tempo to a ballad tempo (60) and press play, it will switch the RealTracks to 'ballad' ones so it sounds musically correct.
3. Many RealTracks improvements added
e.g. Band-in-a-Box handles major triads more intelligently, considering their function in the key of the song.
e.g. Better playing over 2 beat chords (sometimes would piece together two one beat riffs for a chord lasting 2 beats.)
4. New RealTracks added, that might be a closer match the style you're looking for.
