I have been playing piano for over 50 years but am new to performing and have just realized that the majority of listeners, at least at small gigs, are only interested in music from the 50's to the 70's. It's not just my crowd in my campground but whenever I go to a bar with live entertainment the only thing that gets the clientel going is the same kind of music. Could this be because there has been very little music with good melodies/lyrics combinations after 1980? Perhaps there is nothing new under the sun?
