The software is easy, but not at first, because you have to understand how it works and how you work it. It's a niche product, unlike any other piece of software. So, you just have to learn some of the basics first. Read the "getting started" sections of the user manual, use the help facility, and try to figure out why your firewall doesn't let you download the video tutorials. Once you do that, you'll find it's a piece of cake.

Band-in-a-Box 2026 Video: AI Stems & Notes - split polyphonic audio into instruments and transcribe
This video demonstrates how to use the new AI-Notes feature together with the AI-Stems splitter, allowing you to select an audio file and have it separated into individual stems while transcribing each one to its own MIDI track. AI-Notes converts polyphonic audio—either full mixes or individual instruments—into MIDI that you can view in notation or play back instantly.
