I've been working on a new song generated with all RealTracks in BIAB. I checked "Generate 2 bar ending" and "Use 4 bar ending for RTs". I noticed that not all instruments end on the same beat of the last bar of the 2 bar ending. The screenshot below is a short test song in RealBand (imported from BIAB). I generated WAVs in BIAB and they show the same ending quirks. Bar 7 is the start of the 2 bar ending. Note that tracks 9,10 & 12 end on beat 1 of measure 8, while the others end on beat 3 of measure 8. To emphasize the end of the song, I'd like all to end on the same beat (although it's not a "deal killer"). Any comments/ideas? Thanks,

I think what you are experiencing is the natural decay of different instruments, which all sustain a different amount of time. What you have (from looking at the screen shot) is a two bar ending (bar 7 and 8), but the decay is allowed to continue another two bars (which was a feature asked for). I think you can turn that off in BIAB, but I can't find a way to do that in RB. You could just fade it out early yourself at the end of the 2-bar mark.

It's not decay I'm talking about. The audio peaks are strums or a string pick (depending on the instrument). Some do their "last thing" on beat 1 and others on beat 3 (look at the waveform peaks). Plus, my ears tell me the same thing.

Right, but you also have 2-bar ending selected, which I don't think the soloist instruments will honor, and the other instruments are going to do whatever they were programmed to do. If you just wanted a hold on the end, then you should uncheck 2-bar ending, and enter Bb... (B-flat triple dot, a hold chord)at bar 7 (which says to hold the Bb) and then enter a C. (C-dot, a rest chord) a couple of bars later to stay stop the hold and re-define the last bar of the song to be where you put the rest-chord. I think they said they may have fixed the problem where the last rest-chord needs to be different than the held chord, but I'm not sure it always works. So I just enter a final rest-chord different from the held chord and it always works.

Thanks for the tip. It appears that with a 2 bar ending automatically generated, not all instruments handle the last measure the same. However, if I control the ending, then all are "in agreement" in what to do.
For the manual 2 bar ending you suggested, I made the first ending bar a "normal" play of Bb, then the second is a Bb hold for beat one and a Bb shot on beat 4. All instruments do the hold and shot at the same time. This meets my goal of all instruments, not just some, playing the last beat.
My song is pretty far along. I might not change it at this point, since I export WAVs to a hardware unit and mix there. However, I'll keep this "manual ending" idea in mind for the future.
Thanks,

I'm just chiming in here not being able to read your choice of instruments on my tiny screen...
I know from using some Midi styles that this can be a problem when adding in a RealTrack. The one I recall was a Bossa style where the Midi bass played on the 1 and 3 of the last measure and the RealTrack played the final chord on 1.
I am aware that you are using all RealTracks but may want to look at your choice of instruments and make sure they are similar in feel and tempo. You may get weird results mixing an even feel with a swing.
Also, have you tried loading one of the predefined RealStyles and see what happens there. If all works fine, it may help you figure out what is happening for future reference.

Yes, some instruments end at different times. Sometimes I have found that to be a cool effect for the song, so I just live with it. I haven't found any way to fix it without manual editing. It is just a quirk in BIAB and RB, I guess).

When the ending doesn't work, I unfold to 1 chorus add 4 to 6 bars and make an ending with a hold chord before the regular ending happens. Example 4 bar hold and shot ending > C...1st bar of new ending/2nd bar empty/3rd bar empty /4th bar empty/C.. 5th bar shot ending. If I want a Soloist to play during the ending I use Strings track for the solo track. Replace the 1st bar of ending with C...S and solo will play during the ending.

Likewise here, in fact I have always built my songs unfolded into one long chorus. And as Tommy has stated you then have numerous options using the holds and bar settings mute, change volume etc. etc to get the ending the way you want it.

Thanks for the additional tips. I don't usually unfold, but maybe I'll start doing that.
Rachael: I used the _WSWNGMF (Western Swing Medium) style to create the song. With the automatically generated 2 bar ending, 3 of 5 instruments ended on beat one and the other 2 on beat 3. I then added a western swing pedal steel and it ended on beat 3.
