Hi Guys
I have made a backing track to Caravan for my jazz group using two Realstyles in an AABA format
BOSSAP--Bossa with Piano for the A sections
and
J140---BD Evans Jazz Trio for the swing Bridge
Not perhaps the best choices but its only for practice at improvising
The thing is that as far as I can see these both comprise of all real instruments --that is what it says for both in the right side of the Styles Window page--but when it plays I get the Guitar part shown in yellow as 25 Nylon String Guitar and the Strings part as 50 Slow Strings
I dont think anything actually plays but I mute them anyway, except of course I have to do that every time as it doesnt remember a mute, but why do I get them showing like that
What do I need to change

BOSSAP only contains Piano, Bass and Strings.
There are a large number of styles that do not have instruments and rhythmical patterns allocated to all tracks. This is one of them. If you go to "Styles (on the uppermost menu) | Stylemaker | Edit current style" and have a look as the assignment of patterns and instruments, you can see that the Guitar and Strings have had nothing assigned to them. It's not necessary to mute these tracks every time.

Thanks for such a fast response
I must be looking in the wrong place when I read this stuff and select a style as what I see in the right pane is;
BOSSAP.STY. Bossa with Piano (140 RS)
All RealTracks. Trio.
RD: BOSSATERRYCLARKE^6-BLSTIX,STKS :Terry Clarke
RT464: Bass, Acoustic, Bossa Ev 140, Neil Swainson
RT470: Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm Bossa Ev 140, Miles Black
Where do I need to look again

Phil, Have a look at the following (as mentioned above "Styles (on the uppermost menu) | Stylemaker | Edit current style") - see image below.  Now click on "Guitar" (shown with the yellow cross) and you can see that there are no patterns listed for this style. This means that Guitar is not part of the style. (See the second image below.)  You needn't worry too much about this. All I'm trying to do is to show you that there's no reason to mute the guitar and strings because there is nothing there for them to play. That's how this style has been put together. Hope this helps, Noel

Noel is correct, there is no need to mute unused instruments. They won't play.
FWIW, in version 2012, the status indicators are better (on main screen and mixer). In 2012, unused tracks show up as "white" and the instrument name is "<not used> Nylon Guitar" instead of "Nylon Guitar"
