I purchased 2012 yesterday and worked with it on a project I had already started in the 2011 version.
Firstly, I'm confused by the solo and mute buttons. I've looked at the online manual where the explanation seems fairly straightforward, however it makes no mention of the condition where the red mute button has just a small dash instead of M on it and what that means. It seems when that is showing, the solo button can appear to be highlighted but the track is still mute ???
Also, I recorded three audio mono tracks yesterday and changed the background colours. When I started it up today, the tracks were still there but the colours had gone back to default?
Furthermore, the mono tracks had become stereo tracks just showing data and background colour in the left channel?
Any clarification will be gratefully received.

Hi Godfrey.
First the mute/solo buttons.
The mute button will be green when a track is playing and red when it's muted.
When a solo button is clicked, that track's button will light up.
Any tracks which were muted will appear the same.
On any tracks which were playing, the mute button will turn red and the "M" will be replaced by a dash (-).
If more than one track is solo'd, the second and subsequent tracks will light the solo button, but the mute button will stay red and display the dash.
The colors - I agree, PT2012 doesn't appear to save the current track color with the SEQ file. It does save the new default colors. Support - please note.
The tracks - try going to OPTIONS - PREFERENCES - GENERAL and at the bottom of the dialog box select MONO AUDIO as the default track.

Don't forget that the SOLO icon button should act as a Global deselect for all Soloed tracks

Many thanks both - all is now clear. Think I was expecting them to behave as they do in another program I have used where if you press one it cancels the other.
