I just finished this one, called A Thousand Miles. It's about how valuable our friends are to us. I did all the vocals, and played the violin solo in it. Everything else is RealTracks/Realdrums. I hope you enjoy it! A Thousand Miles Here are the RT's/RD's used... RealTracks in song: 1254:Bass, Electric, PopShiningSync Ev 120 RealTracks in song: 1610:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm Pop16 Ev16 110 RealTracks in song: 637:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm RootsRockDirty Ev 100 (B:sync) RealTracks in song: 1581:Guitar, Acoustic, Rhythm Folkie16ths Sw16 085 RealTracks in song: 1582:Guitar, High-Strung Acoustic, Rhythm Folkie16ths Sw16 085 RealTracks in song: 1650:Guitar, Electric, Soloist JazzFunkGroovin Ev16 110 RealDrums in Song: PopPromiseEv16^6-a: Snare, Open HiHat , b: Snare, Ride ******************* And here are the lyrics... A Thousand MilesMusic and Lyrics, Copyright Stephen W. Young Verse 1: Looking back on yesterday The things I should have known I wonder how some people think They can make it alone Broken hearts, and shattered dreams And things we've left behind With the help of friends to see us through This is what I've found Chorus: I'm a thousand miles from yesterday But I know where I have been And there is no place I would rather be Than right here with my friends Verse 2: Hanging out with my best friends Sundays in the park Reflecting on what the preacher said And how he hit the mark And those nights in the coffee shop We laughed until we cried Those were good days, and happy times My friends there by my side Chorus: I'm a thousand miles from yesterday But I know where I have been And there is no place I would rather be Than right here with my friends === I hope all my friends here on the Forum have a great day!!! Excellent production, Steve. The lyrics say it all! Translation: In Okie-speak, that would be: "Now, raht yonder is some maddy fahn rahtin, fiddlin' an eefin,' Ah tell ya!"

Steve,
The starting music took me aback a bit. But as it progressed it fit everything so well.
Cant say much more about what above folks said, except this.
Your lyrics writing abilities along with their fit to the song is exceptional.
Thanks so much for sharing your hard work and music!
And BTW, yes I am.....having a good day.

The transition from the intro into the verse seemed a bit abrupt but loved the lyrics, message and it's a nice job on the vocals. All in all a very nice song. Val

Steve,
Another great tune! Excellent lyrics and vocal - especially loved your use of RT's (as always) and the violin solo, which was a very nice touch...

Hey Steve, I love the song, love the harmony, and most of the arrangement.... I'm on the fence about those frenetic really fast lead guitar licks - to me in some spots it's a little much and might be more impactful if used more toward the end as the song builds - for example maybe from the second chorus on - instead of all the way through - but that's just me and isn't a deal breaker at all. My two cents and friendly opinion. Well done.

Steve,
I really liked your song a ton. You've been carving away at this BB stuff I can tell...I'm still a newbie (with the product) and there is mucho to be learned.
What struck me as facinating was the application of RT's that had differing feels to them (ie, EV16 and SW16). Oddly enough, they seemed to work together very well and my ear was none the wiser.
I never would have thought of experimenting like this! Thank you!
It is bold...and daring...(enter Puss and Boots)...fear me if you dare! LOL
Great vocals...harmonies were dead on and extra "airy" near the end (any TC work there?)...that's another realm I have yet to explore myself...have heard some great applications by some very talented enthusiasts...so at least I know the "potential" is there.
In the end, great job...and you are an encouragement to me.
Regards,
JOHN 10:10

Tommy, Thanks, Cuz! I consider myself lucky to have a lot of friends here on the Forum! Great software, great company, great group of friends! Tim, Thanks so much for your kind words! Glad you like this one. Really appreciate your comments! Don, Thank you very much, my friend! One of my dearest friends is an Okie. I'm always giving him a hard time about that, and he's always giving me a hard time about being a Texan. I guess he can't help where he comes from. == Steve

Bob, As always, I really appreciate hearing from you. I'm still a little rusty on the violin, but it is coming back to me. Glad you like this one! Josie, Thank you very much for your kind words, and for giving me your honest opinion. The guitar solo is Carlos. He's so good, it's hard to tone him down! And your opinion is worth more than 2 cents! With inflation, it's up to 3 now! But seriously, you are very much appreciated. Malcolm, Thanks so much for posting your kind words! Very appreciated. == Steve

Flan,
Thank you very much! Glad to hear from you on this one. I do try to find "unconventional" combinations on all of my songs. Sometimes I can find some that work, and sometimes not. It keeps the challenge alive and helps make the songs feel a little more real in my opinion.
All the vocals are real, and me. I do quite a bit of layering on my background vocals. Not unusual for me to use 12 to 18 tracks of just background vocals.
Spacedog,
Thanks so much! I am glad you enjoyed this one. It's nice to see you cranking out your music again these days!
Eric,
Really appreciate your time and comments. I always enjoy your songs as well!

A Newbie around here, both with the product, BIAB, and on the Forums. I am literally just soaking up some of the songs/sounds that appear to have been created using this outstanding software. And gosh, once more I'm astonished at the professionalism that seems to pervade every song I've listened to over the last few days, including this, A Thousand Miles. I was foot-tapping from the start and agreeing with the lyrics as they rolled by. A great piece of work. Well done.

This one arrived during my relocation so I missed it. Great song Steve, love the driving rhythm and the drums. Interesting combinations and it all fits together.
