Got a question for the BIAB Ninjas. I'm starting to do gigs with a piano player, I play sax. I've been using Biab for over 10 years for solo gigs but I don't know if it is possible to do the following. Is there a way to view the chords in concert but show the notation as it would be written for alto or tenor? The reason I'm asking is the setup we are going to use will be my laptop connected to a second monitor for the keyboard player. I can transpose pretty good for most tunes but for some it would be nice not to have to transpose. I have a Tranzport, I'm thinking of using that because I can put that in Bb or Eb and let the keyboard player read the screen.

Hi. I play trumpet, soprano sax and flute, so I understand your question. Like you, I can transpose but prefer not having to. One less thing to mess up.
You can tell BIAB to continue to play in concert pitch but display a transposed part such as for Bb or Eb sax. This is done in Opt., Preferences, Notation, Transpose Options.
But it sounds like that's not what you want, since you want the second monitor to display concert for the keyboard player.
As far as I know, BIAB does not support different keys on dual monitors. In fact, I don't recall anyone on the forum talking about using dual monitors (it's in interesting idea). This info could be completely wrong, though. If I'm correct, it would make a great Wishlist Forum request. Further, you want to separate the chordsheet from the melody, if I'm reading the request correctly. I don't think you can do that, either.
About the Tranzport: I used one for many years, but it became increasingly unreliable. I think that may be a combination of its age and the fact that more wireless devices are around now. I replaced it with an iPad, for which there are a variety of apps including two by PG Music. What I don't know, because I haven't tried it, is if any of them transpose. I also don't know if you can run more than one iPad on the same system. I'll try some experiments tonight about transposing.
ps I did not realize the Tranzport could transpose! But how does that help you, since it can only display chords and not melody?

Hi Matt, thanks for the reply. The Tranzport does transpose. What I can do is use the Tranzport to start my songs, both monitors will be in C but the Tranzport will show chords for Bb or Eb depending on what horn I'm playing.

Ok, I misunderstood; you want the keyboard to read the Tranzport . Let me rethink my answer.

I kinda solved this problem a few years ago. I made a duplicate of my gig database then transposed all the tunes to the horn key in the second database. Then printed the tunes and made a gig book for him. I know this is old school but it works. My partner jpeg'd his book put it on a iPad with a foot switch that changes pages for him. Everything is running smooth The person who controls the Box should have the tunes in there concert key and the other should transpose.
