Build 51 of Band in a Box 2012 for Mac does not seem to want to render audio files as M4a's anymore. I take a song with real tracks, choose the desktop as the place to render them to, select m4a and it goes and creates an AIFF of the file.
Ideas?

Seems to be working here, I did however have to go into the DAW plug-in prefs and re-select the.m4a option.
It seems like maybe the last update shut it off.
Strange, I've never had an update change that preference on me before.
Hopefully that's all it is on your system too.

Nope. It's busted. Not using DAW mode either. It keeps generating aiff files.

Ah, seems if you NORMALIZE the m4a file, it won't generate an m4a file. But if it normalize is unselected, it works.

Oops sorry, I misunderstood, usually I export audio through the drag & drop box.
That's where I happened to notice that it reverted back to .aiff after the last update.
Thought that's what you were referring to.

Why normalize an audio file from BIAB? I know it has nothing to do with this export problem, but everything I have been taught is to avoid normalizing--at least early in the recording process.

Um, well, lets see......first I wasn't recording anything. I wanted the background files to be boosted in volume for better playback on iPods or whatever. And because it is a feature that is available and should work and doesn't.
