Hello,

Does anyone know if there is a reasonable way to create your own real tracks? I'd like to create some steel guitar intros, fills, and endings of my own. In looking at the existing RealTracks from PG Music it appears that each one consists of a WMA file that contains the audio itself and a BT0 file. Since the BT0 file is binary it isn't obvious what it contains, but my guess is that it is a "guide" file of some sort that is used by BIAB to interpret the contents of the WMA. Is the format of a BT0 file available somewhere? If I had that I believe it would be fairly trivial to create custom real tracks.

Thanks,
Ray

This has been asked several times on the wishlist forum, but unfortunately custom creation of realtracks is still not supported in the 2012 version.

I don't mind getting down to some hard core bare knuckles C++ or C# bit-level programming if necessary. Although it would be nice if the custom creation of realtracks were supported by BIAB (or RealBand) itself, I was thinking that if the format of the BT0 file were available I could write a custom GUI application to create appropriate BT0 files to match the WMA files containing the real audio. Do any members of the forum happen to know if PG Music is willing to provide information on the BT0 format and other technical information that might be neecessary to create such real tracks?

That's not our call. Your best bet would be to contact PGMusic directly. One of the forum members, Carlos, contributed to the last set of RealTracks PGMusic put out. You might just want to contact them and see what's available. But for now, RT's are proprietary in the creation process (which is legitimate for the company, I believe).

You can create your own Real Drum tracks but not Real Tracks. There have been questions about this since the first RT's came out. A couple of forum members have done work for PG on some of those tracks and all they said some years ago is they're totally integrated into Biab and therefore totally proprietary. I doubt PG is going to release the source code to allow it.

To John's point I remember the old adage that went something like this, Macy's does not tell Gimbels. My guess is that if PG Music has proprietary rights to the realtracks and also the process involved it would not be smart for them to provide a "how to" make them yourself guide. But I can certainly see why, including myself someone would like to be able to roll their own.

Good Luck,

Actually we do have an option for this, loops! Remember that looping allows you to take wave file and make tracks, or parts of tracks. I would invest some time in that and see what you can do to meet your needs.

Also the multitrack feature of the RTs allows you to make several version of a section, with that you might actually create what you need.

I suggest listening to one of the WMA files and then duplicate the key/chord changes/tempo in a recording of your own. Save a copy of the original RT and name yours what the original file was named. Then, give it a try and let us know what the result is.

I've thought about doing this several times, but never got around to it.
