Hi
I have many midi files from various sources with different channels allocated by the originator. Some use all 16 channels some use less.
I know the channels that BIAB uses and I can merge, delete and change my midi channel numbers. Does BIAB need my various midi channels changing to specific channels before midi input? Should my midi files have the channels changed to match the channels used by BIAB or should I avoid using the BIAB channels for midi input?
Many thanks

If I understand your question, I initially had the same questions as you. As some here on the forums have pointed out, you might want to try opening these files in RealBand instead of BIAB. There you can see all the channels, what instrument is assigned to it and change as many as you see fit.
Win11, Intel i7 7700K 4.2Ghz, 32Gb RAM, 2x1Tb HD, 500Gb NVMe, BIAB/RB 2025, MOTU 828MK3 audio, MOTU Midi Express, Yamaha Montage 7, DX7II, TX802, Motif XS Rack, Roland Fantom XR Rack, Oberheim Matrix 1000, VoiceLive3 Extreme, Kontakt 6, SampleTank 4.3

If you are going to use the Midi files 'as is', there is no reason to use BIAB for them at all. You can use BIAB, Realband, or any Midi player to play those songs. BIAB is great for inputting chords and auto-generating an arrangement in the style you want. It will allow you to edit a Midi arrangement but that is not it's strength - Realband would be better.

Philip, You would want to avoid the same channels that Biab uses, otherwise you may get a bass patch playing for something else and vice-versa. Open the .Mid file in Biab. Click on the .Seq button and change any channel until your hearts content. You can even change patches there as well. Very handy feature the PG Team came up with inside of Biab. We had to export, do changes, re-import ad finium . . . The .Seq button is where it's at now Trax
