To create a style based on a familiar song, you need to find a MIDI version of it (that includes all the important parts and riffs). This only works for MIDI styles. For RealTracks, you just have to find individual instruments that sound good together and lots of luck getting the right riffs.

With a good MIDI, you can have the style wizard analyze what is being played on each track and create a style based on that MIDI file. So, let's say you want to use alternate chords for the song or put fills in different places, etc, then only a style will let you do that, since the original MIDI file is going to be based on the chords used by the creator. That's the beauty of building your own style.
