I'm not Mac, but.... In my (latest build) setup, there is no Bank 1 patch 54 and no name "humming" in the Roland VSC.pat file. I suspect that's because that map is for the old (pre-VSTi) sound set.

I'm not familiar with the VSC series, but if you're sure the VSTi is GM2 compliant, then try this:

DISable the "show higher bank patches" switch in that F5 dialog, and just use the remaining "+" button. (This is equivalent to using the "GM2" button in the main interface.) Patch 54/1 will be under the "Ensemble" group.

If this works, you may want to revert to the default GM pat file so as to avoid confusion in the future.

If it doesn't work, you may want to go to the VSTi interface itself and manually check that the desired patch is there. Assuming it is, close the VSTi window, open the midi monitor, try again as above to choose the desired patch. The info in the midi monitor for the target channel will (one hopes) point to the problem. Post back if no joy.

HTH, -Ron

EDIT - Ok, I followed my own advice with the Midi monitor, and it appears there's a bug! Using the F5 window to set a GM2 patch change doesn't work properly, because an MSB (CC 0) value of 0 - instead of the required 121 - is sent!

So I think the OP was following the proper procedure. A bug gets in the way Hope PG guys see this.

You might be able to do what you want via the higher bank route, but you might have to build the necessary .pat file yourself.

EDIT 2 - PG: The bug appears to be only in the melody and soloist parts, not the auto-generated ones.
