I don't know what you mean by "reset the latancy", but what Rog suggested will indeed align the out-of-synch track with the rest of the project.
What John suggested is the preferred fix for the following reason:
If you do it John's way, your tracks will be in alignment from then on. If you do it the other way, you'll have to keep manually aligning tracks forever.
But both ways work.
