A little bit OT, but I recall seeing a thread like this before. (Months ago, and apps often change, new ones, etc.)
Curiosity got to me and I finally broke down and bought my first IOS device, an Ipod Touch (current version, 4). I should receive it on Friday.
As my phone (T-Mobile HTC HD2, Windows Mobile)plays back music well, and I even have an old classic Ipod as well, my main interest in getting the Itouch is to try out some IOS apps, especially music apps.
One that I would be most interested in trying out (and not OT), if it were available, would be BIAB for IOS. There is something like that? Well, unless one came out very recently that I don't know about, not really. The BIAB IOS app I have heard of is not a standalone IOS app, but is a remote control app to run one's desktop BIAB over the internet from the IOS device. That doesn't interest me much. I would like a BIAB that actually runs completely from the IOS device, without needing connection to the desktop. Of course such an app would not use RT and RD, but simply MIDI. (I think these devices come with a decent GM softsynth built in.) I certainly hope that is developed in the future, and for Android as well.)
I have heard though, that there are other auto-accompaniment apps kind of like BIAB, for IOS. Has anyone here used one or more? Your review? What would you recommend?
(By the way, I saw the post about the free PG Music Pitch Invasion game for IOS, and will likely download it. I am not really interested in games though, so don't know if I will do much with it.
What other music apps for IOS would people here recommend? Metronomes? Tuners? Are there any good MIDI sequencer apps, like Cakewalk/Sonar for IOS??
By the wsy, I bought the Akai Synthstation 25 keyboard a few months ago, to use as a very small USB MIDI controller for a laptop, but seeing that slot that an Iphone or Itouch can slide into, is a factor that caused me to decide to buy the Itouch. So it would be nice if apps recognize the keyboard input of the Synthstation 25.
Anyhow---- I am open to hearing any and all suggestions for music apps for IOS that will work on the Itouch 4, including with Synthstation.
Thank you.

Thanks, Keith, for the link to my post, which I just updated. My list has remained remarkably stable in six months, with only one major replacement.
To maiki, I don't know how many of the apps I listed will work on an iTouch4. I am starting to get a few apps that are iPad only, and I identified one of those in my list. Since the rest work on an iPhone, perhaps they would work for you, but I'm not sure.
BIAB 2026 Win Audiophile. Software: Fender Studio One 8, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Presonus Quantom HD8 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.

Thanks, I will take a look at the link. I am pretty sure that anything that will work on an Iphone will work on an Ipod Touch, which is really an Iphone without the phone. (I am not interested in changing cell phone carriers and paying humongous monthly charges to get the Iphone) Thank you. Quote:

Be sure to confirm that for us, please, when you get your iPod Touch.

I haven't found any apps for the iPhone that do not work with the iPod yet. Apps that use the GPS or non WIFI phone features off course will not work.

Just tried Chordbot Lite (the free demo version) so far. IT sure is limited. Don't know how much better the full version is. (Problem with feature-limited demos. You don't really know what the full version is like.) Certainly far inferior to even BIAB version 1 for DOS.
Are there no better auto-accompaniment programs for IOS (self-contained) than chordbot?
Anyone know if PG Music will come out with a self-contained BIAB for IOS?
Aer DAW apps like multi-track only for multitrack audio recording, or are they MIDI sequencers as well?
I thought that GarageBand was included on IOS deviceas. I am surprised one has to buy that too.
Is AC7 Core Mini worth it as a sonar control device.
Does IRealB really work well as a real book? It looks like one has to pay extra to get the actual books to put on it. (At those prices, I sure hope they are paying the music publication fees.)

I am uncomfortable giving my opinion here about apps like Chordbot that may be regarded as a competitor of the very wonderful BIAB. I can tell you that the paid version has many more rhythm options. The fact that something is on my list means only that, in my opinion, it is among the best of the choices currently available at the time of the review.
PG Music does not announce products in advance, so your question about that cannot be answered here.
Some mini-DAWs do handle MIDI.
GarageBand must be purchased separately.
I tried AC Core-Mini and do not use it now that I have V-Control Pro. Yes, it's expensive, but far less that the inferior Frontier Design Tranzport.

In lookinag at the IrealB site, it appears that it is also an auto-accompaniment program. How does it compare with Chordbot in that respect? Which mini-DAWs handle MIDI? You say V-Control Pro is Ipad only, so not an option on Iphone or Itouch (iphone sans phone, with only data connection wi-fi)Therefore I asked about the ac core mini. I don't think one could consider chordbot a "competitor" to BIAB, as it is nowhere in the same league. In any case, even if it were a competitor, it is always good to hear various opinions about products. Quote:
