Hi again,

I'm out of hospital and recovering now, but have encountered a weird change to my BIB fortunes today when I started up. Before you begin to think I've just ignored or not found the PG advice to follow if there is no sound output, can I say that I've read it all and followed it meticulously as far as I could understand it and tested and re-tested the outcome. I've even completely reinstalled BIB after uninstalling and rebooting. But still I cannot get any sound output. So here's the issue:

- Up until yesterday I was beginning to get to grips with the basics of the program, and I have produced about a dozen tracks - some using standard midi settings and some using real tracks - but without any success.

- But from the point I booted up this morning, everything changed. I can play the realtracks parts of any previously created or new track, but there is no sound for midi only tracks or from the midi parts of composite tracks.

Here's what I've done:

1. Checked my computer's sound card (Soundblaster 5.1) diagnostics which shows everything is OK including playing midi.
2. Checked playing a standard system midi file with Windows Media Player and I get sound OK (after each time trying this, I reset the midi setting on the volume control because WMP had muted it).
3. Checked midi settings in BIB - USB Audio Driver input, Creative Soundfont synth output (but this is over-ridden because I've installed and selected Roland VSCDXi, Use VCS/DXi Synth and Route MIDI thru to MIDI driver.
4. Checked Roland VSCDXi control panel, Synth VSC DXi (Set to edit) and Audio Emuzed flow control (set to edit).
5. Checked audio drivers - set to MME (no ASIO available) and both Soundblaster Liver 24 bit audio and Microsoft Sound Mapper tried.

But still no sound! I have the following concerns:
1. That this happened between two sessions - has a Windows update or something interrupted the sound setup somehow?
2. If it is something like this, are other BIB 2009 users experiencing the same problem?
3. If not, why should everything change so suddenly?

Has anyone on BIB 2009 or any other version experienced a similar problem and found a solution apart from what I've already checked, or can you see a flaw in what I've done to try and resolve the problem?

I would contact PG but I've not received a reply to my last support request sent some weeks ago, and I got a much faster response on the forum last time.

Help appreciated!
