In fact, I have never seen that message in Win 7, now that you mention it!

Since Matt's comment, I rebooted and didn't really notice much difference in re-drawing the screen since installing Fences. It was unscientific because I didn't have a previous benchmark, only an Irish tachometer/stethoscope (gut feeling). Also, I have 8 Gb of RAM. That may skew the test a mite. I'll give Fences a bit more of a road-test before I'll condemn it. I really like the idea but found myself reverting back to Start/Search several times today. As Matt said, some of the folders associated with the desktop icons have disappeared. Not permanently, but hidden elsewhere on the HD.
