Hi David,

I have the Windows version of BIAB 2012. With my version of the program, the option "File | Import chords from midi file" will probably do what you need.

You can read about this on page 153 of the "User Manual" pdf found in the BIAB folder under the Start Menu.

Once the midi file is loaded, go into Notation Editor and make sure that "M" is selected (it will have a red box around it like in the image below).



Now go to "Melody" on the very top menu and set the track type to "Guitar (Standard Tuning)".



Go back down to the notation and you should see that it is now displayed as tab with chord symbols above it.



Note that results with this technique will vary from midi to midi. Since midi does not store chord information, BIAB interprets it and takes educated guesses as to what the chords are. These guesses sometimes need adjustments.
