You can do this at least one sure way and maybe two. I'm not sure if 2009.5 has the "freeze tracks" feature or if that came in later. Right click on any instrument and look at the bottom of the window. If it says freeze track then that's all you need to do. If it's not there, then that's one of many good reasons to upgrade.

The other way is to move the solo to the audio track. That won't regenerate. Of course if you're already using the audio track then you really need to upgrade to get the freeze track option.

As to saving as a MIDI file, you're missing the fact that Real Tracks are not midi, they're audio. Any time you use RT's as individual instruments there's no midi to create a midi file from. If you were using a Real Drum part (that's audio too) then you wouldn't even have drums in your midi file. That audio track I mentioned earlier is not one of the regular instrument tracks, it's a separate audio track that you can record your own instrument or vocal to and keep it along with the rest of the Biab song.
